Gingrich Defends Bachmann’s Muslim Brotherhood Allegations: ‘What Is It [Her Critics] Are Afraid Of Learning?’

by Andrew Kirell | 10:43 am, July 24th, 2012

Former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich appeared on POLITICO Live’s Driving the Day morning show Tuesday and defended Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for her letter requesting an investigation into possible ties between Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood.

“There weren’t allegations, there was a question,” Gingrich told the hosts, adding that “the question ought to be asked across the board” about the Muslim Brotherhood’s relationship with and influence over the United States’ government.

“When the United States government holds a counterterrorism conference and refuses to invite Israel,” Gingrich said, “I think that there’s a very serious problem in this administration.”

“So you think the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the U.S. government?” co-host Jim VandeHei asked.

“I think it’s worth knowing,” Gingrich responded.

When it was mentioned that many prominent Republicans, including Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), have attacked Rep. Bachmann for her methods, Gingrich stated that “I think those folks are wrong…. What is it they’re afraid of learning?”

We did nothing when we learned that there are Communists working at high levels in the White House.  We did nothing when we saw, with our own eyes, a Mao Christmas tree ornament adorn the White House Christmas tree.  We did nothing when the President took our nation down in world, credit ratings.  We did nothing when Obama wrote the Executive Order that makes it illegal to assemble peacefully on public grounds.  My God!!  More Executive Orders, hidden from view, are stacking up, and now the President has set himself up to declare Martial Law at any moment!  He is even in position to call off, or delay, November’s election.  What will it take to make us really look at our situation and accept that we are in serious danger from our own government?!  Never mind the convenient argument that other Presidents have done similar things and so this, too, shall pass.  The past never dies but is the lead-in to the future.   And besides, nothing can be done about the past except to learn from it and realizing that uncontested and unchallenged political actions are the foundation for a speedy, dictatorial government change-out.  Sitting back and assuming or hoping that someone else will make it all better, is not only naïve, it can turn deadly.  Our country is still in its infancy.  We must guide it firmly to the future and stop letting others tear it apart.
