Killer, Leakers, and Racists: Who’s Screening Government Employees?

In a shockingly short period of time, the American people have learned about four massive failures in our government’s ability to treat a red flag like a red flag and screen out troubled individuals before they are given extraordinary access to the most sensitive areas of American national security: Intelligence, the Department of Homeland Security, and the military.

Let’s just start with admitted mass murderer, Nidal Hassan, who made it to the rank of Major in the United States Army while throwing up more red flags than a referee at an Oakland Raiders game. Hasan wasn’t just a Major; he was an Army psychiatrist charged with helping others heal their mental wounds at Walter Reed.

This, despite reports that Hasan was “very vocal about being a Muslim first and holding Shari’a law above the Constitution,” and spoke openly about how the war on terror was a war against Islam:

This officer says he was so surprised when Hasan gave a talk about “the war on terror being a war on Islam” that he asked the lieutenant colonel running the course what Hasan’s presentation had to do with health care. “I raised my hand and asked, ‘Why are you letting this go on — this has nothing to do with environmental health.’ The course director said, ‘I’m just going to let him go.’ ” The topic of Hasan’s presentation, the officer says, had been approved in advance by the lieutenant colonel.

Hasan was also able to get away with exchanging 18 emails with Anwar al-Awlaki, a high-ranking al Qaeda cleric. Those emails included Hasan’s plan to commit mass murder, on which he would follow through in November of 2009.

While screaming Allah Akbar, Hasan murdered thirteen and injured thirty during a spree shooting at the Fort Hood military base.

Just as frightening but, thankfully, nowhere near as successful (yet) is Ayo Kimathi, a government employee tasked with buying guns and ammunition for the Department of Homeland Security.

It should come as no surprise that it was not the federal government that discovered how Kimathi spends his spare time. Using a website (that was approved by a DHS that obviously never bothered to look into what it was approving), Kimathi plans and advocates for a coming race war.

Kimathi’s site calls President Obama a “treasonous mulatto scum dweller,” and an enemy of the black supremacist movement, along with Oprah, Whoopi Goldberg, and Condoleezza Rice. The site says, “warfare is eminent, and in order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our christian hearts can possibly count.” Kimathi also says that whites are attempting to “homosexualize” black men to somehow make them weaker, and therefore easier pickings for racism. He also offers helpful hints on how “Black women in the world [can] understand what she needs to do to keep a strong Black man happy.”

As of this writing, there has been no announcement from DHS regarding Kimathi being fired.

Then we have our famous leakers, Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden.

Manning, who was just convicted of espionage and sentenced to 35 years for setting a new record for the largest amount of restricted documents ever leaked to the public, is a troubled young man who now wants to become a troubled young woman.

Years before Manning was arrested for espionage, the warning signs were enough that he was nearly discharged from the military … before being promoted from Private First Class to Specialist and deployed to Iraq as a Security Analyst:

He enlisted in October 2007 and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for basic training, but in just over a month he was moved to a discharge unit and on the verge of expulsion.

One man who befriended Manning in the unit, but who wishes to remain anonymous, explained what being in the discharge unit meant. “He was not bouncing back. He’s going home. You don’t just accidentally end up in a discharge unit one day. You just have somebody one day saying, ‘You know what, he is no good – let’s get him out of here’. There are a lot of steps to go to before you even hit a discharge unit.” …

Despite the concerns of his immediate superiors, Manning was “recycled” instead of being discharged. The war in Iraq was in its fourth year and the army was short of recruits.

In August 2008, after training as an intelligence analyst, he was stationed at Fort Drum in upstate New York while he awaited deployment to Iraq. Here he was considered a “liability” by superior officers.

While it is true that Edward Snowden worked for contractors, that is hardly an excuse for our government not to be overbearing in its oversight of to whom contractors like Booz Allen Hamilton give access to our most sensitive security secrets:

Beginning in 2002, an 18-year-old Snowden was an active member of the website Ars Technica, where he boasted of his sexual prowess and the joys of postcoital doughnuts. He even doled out advice on how to become a successful high school dropout just like him.

He also maintained a profile on a Japanese anime company run by friends, where he showed the early seeds of strong opinions regarding rights to privacy and government surveillance of online activity. …

But amid all the swagger were signs of an activist in the making.

“It really concerns me how little this sort of corporate behavior bothers those outside of technology circles,” he wrote in 2010. “Society really seems to have developed an unquestioning obedience towards spooky types.”

In 2010,  Snowden had already worked for the NSA, CIA, and was at the time either working for or about to work for Dell or Booz Allen.

In 2011, Snowden passed a background check, despite the fact that

Hiring screeners at Booz Allen Hamilton, a contractor for the National Security Agency, found possible discrepancies in a resume submitted by Edward Snowden, but the company still employed him, a source with detailed knowledge of the matter said on Thursday.

Thirteen dead, thirty wounded, a flood of national security secrets leaked (and still coming out), and a recruiter and promoter of a race war — all on the government payroll, all throwing up red flags, and despite that — all placed in highly sensitive positions that we used to believe were only reserved for buttoned-down Jack Ryan types.

When one Bradley Manning slips through, that kind of thing unfortunately happens. But we have had four in just a few years.

Manning, Snowden, Nasan, and Kimathi are not the disease; they are the symptom of a federal government’s inexcusable and fatal incompetence.

BREITBART by MATTHEW BOYLE (MY TWO SENSE: BOEHNER MUST GO!! NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF HIS SUPPORT FOR OBAMACARE, BUT FOR HIS BLOCKING OF A SELECT COMMITTEE ON BENGHAZI! BOEHNER IS AMONG THE ENEMY! JM)

Mark Levin: If Boehner Funds ObamaCare, It Becomes ‘BoehnerCare’

On his nationally syndicated radio program on Thursday evening, conservative talker Mark Levin said that if House Speaker John Boehner follows through with a plan to fund Obamacare in the upcoming Continuing Resolution (CR) that funds the government, Obamacare will become forever known as “BoehnerCare.”

“Rather than calling it Obamacare, we should call it BoehnerCare,” Levin said. “So I think I’m going to call it BoehnerCare if I can remember from time to time, certainly more often, because Boehner won’t even fight. Boehner, he’s just–is the word ‘pathetic’ appropriate?”

Levin was referencing reports that Boehner was going to cave again, this time on the upcoming CR battle where conservatives are aiming to defund Obamacare. “Earlier this evening, Speaker John Boehner announced his grand plans for fighting Obamacare in the budget,” Red State’s Daniel Horowitz wrote of Boehner’s latest cave. “He will pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) until some time in December, grouping the new budget deadline with the debt ceiling date, and create another grand end-of-year fiscal cliff.  He will fund Obamacare in the short term CR, but by George, he will fight like hell in the debt ceiling battle!  For now, they will make the short term CR about locking in the sequester cuts.”

Levin then shifted into criticizing Boehner over his contradictions over how he will plan to handle the Senate’s “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill. He read from a report from the National Review’s Jonathan Strong, who laid out how Boehner’s Super PAC aides were pushing the Senate bill on House lawmakers while the Speaker publicly says he is opposed to the Senate bill.

“Senior GOP aides of a Super PAC linked to Speaker John Boehner are lobbying House Republicans to pass the Senate ‘Gang of Eight’ immigration bill, legislation that Boehner has said he will not bring to the House floor,” Strong wrote on Thursday. “The lobbying effort is coming under the umbrella of the American Action Network, a nonprofit 501(c)(4) ‘action tank’ led by former senator Norm Coleman, which is touting the “major positive economic impact” of the Senate bill in e-mails sent to individual House Republican offices. AAN is housed in the same office as the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC associated with Boehner, and the two organizations share senior aides, including Brian O. Walsh, the president of both organizations, and Dan Conston, the spokesman for both.”

Levin ripped Boehner for the contradictions. “See how Boehner does it?” Levin chided. “He’s got his PAC that he’s been supporting and raising funds for lobbying Republican members, his own Republican members in the House to support the Gang of Eight immigration bill or something like it while he’s publicly saying ‘no, we’re going to break it into little pieces. This guy’s a snake. He’s absolutely dishonest. My great fear is he’s so pathetic and incompetent, as are the rest of them, quite frankly, that conservatives are not going to turn out in the next election and we’ll lose the damn House. We’re tired of these quislings and their dealings. And we’re tired of all the Bush staffers and ex-McCain staffers writing their little hit pieces on conservatives who dare to stand up to them. So, Boehner’s got quite the little inside-outside game going on with this Super PAC linked to him.”

Levin then said what Boehner is going to do get an amnesty passed into law is use “salami tactics, cut it into little pieces, get it passed with Democrat support, and send it to a conference committee. Then it’s over.”

Levin then said Boehner owes his entire existence as Speaker to the conservative movement. “You’re Speaker of the House, who we put there in 2010 with that election,” Levin said. “Just elect more Republicans, you see, that’ll fix it! More Republicans like him? Oh, it’ll fix it. It’ll screw us once and for all. As I’ve said so many times, what the hell does the Republican Party stand for today? I know what the Democrat Party stands for, I really do: totalitarianism, ultimately. But what does the Republican Party stand for? Appeasement. So I call them the French Republicans. Appeasement. You think the answers are there? You think the answers are with John Boehner and Mitch McConnell? You think the answers are with Eric Cantor?”

Levin then revisited the term “BoehnerCare.”

He said Boehner’s position is that “not only are we surrendering, we are not going to support a vote to stand up to Obamacare.”

“So it’s BoehnerCare,” Levin said. “And we should start repeating it: BoehnerCare, BoehnerCare.”

THE BLAZE by MADELEINE MORGENSTERN

Homeland Security Employee’s Hate-Filled Website to Prepare Blacks for the ‘Inevitable Clash With the White Race’

Ayo Kimathi is a small business specialist for the Department of Homeland Security. In his off time, he reportedly runs a website preparing black people for the “unavoidable, inevitable clash with the white race.”

Homeland Security Employee Race War Website

Image source: Southern Poverty Law Center

The Southern Poverty Law Center identified Kimathi as the “Irritated Genie,” whose website “War on the Horizon” is dedicated to “properly educating Black people to prepare for Racial Warfare.” On it, he also advocates for the “purge” of “Uncle Tom” “race traitors”; describes President Barack Obama as a “treasonous mulatto scum dweller”; and claims whites are behind the ”effeminization of the black male” that is “threatening the existence of every Black man, woman, and child on Earth.”

“Everybody in the office is afraid of him,” one of Kimathi’s former Homeland Security supervisors told the Southern Poverty Law Center. “This guy is filled with hate.”

“The 21st century will either mark the return of Black resistance to white domination or global white-on-Black genocide leading to our complete extinction,” the website declares. “Warfare is eminent, and in order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our christian hearts can possibly count.”

The supervisor said she was “astounded” that Kimathi is “employed by the federal government, let alone Homeland Security.”

When the Southern Poverty Law Center, a liberal-leaning group that tracks organizations it deems hateful, reached Kimathi by phone Wednesday to ask whether he was the Irritated Genie, he hung up. A woman who answered the phone at the War on Horizon site refused to confirm whether the Irritated Genie was Kimathi’s online persona.

On its main page, War on the Horizon says preparing for racial warfare includes “intellectual, spiritual, psychological, and physical preparation for a global clash that will mean the end of white rule on this planet or the end of the Black Race as we know it. ”

“Please review the information on our site to understand the threat our people are facing so that you may make the right decisions in preparation for this reality,” the website states. “We’ll See You on the Battlefield!”

The site calls Hurricane Katrina the “the Bush/Brown Massacre of 2005,” and says it is one example of the “continuing white racial acts of aggression.”

Under the June 2010 article “Goodbye Uncle Tom,” the website lists Rev. Al Sharpton, a “sadistic political white-sex offender…who advocates ‘homosexuality’ among Black people”; Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and former Secretary of State Colin (spelled “Colon”) Powell who will “indirectly assist in the genocide of Black people; Oprah Winfrey, a “wealthy lesbian mammy” who does “everything in her power to assist whites in destroying strong Black manhood; as well as “all rappers,” “all political homos” and “all promoters and supporters of interracial dating/marriage/sex.”

“We must become militant, hostile, violent, and deadly to those individuals and groups in our community who don’t comply to Black decency and Race First standards. We cannot continue to be Black people with white behavior.  – Black Afrikans Only!” the website states. “…Once we have largely purged our Race of its Race traitors, war with our natural enemy, the white Race, will intensify and become the single most powerful motivating force in the lives of Afrikan people worldwide.”

Kimathi’s former supervisor told the Southern Poverty Law Center she discovered his website in June.

“When I saw the website, I was stunned,” she said. “To see the hate, to know that he is a federal employee, it bothered me.”

In an email to TheBlaze Thursday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deputy press secretary Gillian Christensen said she could not comment as a matter of policy on whether an investigation into Kimathi is underway.

“ICE does not condone any type of hateful rhetoric or advocacy of violence of any kind against anyone. Every ICE employee is held to the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct. Accusations of misconduct are investigated thoroughly and if substantiated, appropriate action is taken,” Christensen said.

MY TWO SENSE: Gun Control vs. The People by JUST ME

TYRANNY OF OUR NATION

August 22, 2013  11:35

Gun Rights vs. Victim Rights–The gun control debate has been going on since the beginning of time and all over the world.  Those countries in which gun control laws exist and keep guns out of the hands of citizens, are the same countries with oppressive governments.  Oppression can be said to be in the eye of the beholder, or the one being oppressed, however, in this case, gun removal/confiscation from citizens, necessarily requires that government oppress the Constitutional rights of gun owners, American citizens.

While Americans are protected under the Second Amendment, government is not Constitutionally allowed to “infringe” upon gun ownership.  The word “infringe” means to create laws, or regulations, or otherwise impose restrictions upon the freedom of Americans to own gun(s).  Because we live in a civilized society, although how civilized is not clear, we must have some laws and regulations which offer guidelines and boundaries of such ownership.  Just as in the case of ownership of other personal property, we have commonsense responsibilities  and duties with which to comply so that we may have streets, utilities, and other things we’ve come to view as “necessities” of life.  Remember, that although we may determine those things necessities of life, they are not Constitutional ‘rights,’ they are not laid out within our Constitution, and the average individual must work in order to pay for the use of such things.  Those who can’t, or won’t, are generously given entitlements to those things that others pay for.  (That, in itself, is a form of redistribution of wealth, although that’s another subject!)

Please, bear with me.  The United States Constitution provides Americans with certain ‘natural rights’ which means, by virtue of being a human, by being a natural member of mankind, we are born with certain inalienable rights that are not granted by government but rather are intrinsic to human beings, the stewards of the rest of the living world.  One of the intrinsic rights we human beings have is two-fold; one, the right to defend our life and property without government infringing upon that right, and second, because our freedom is a facet of our personal property, we have a duty to protect it, not only for the present and for ourselves but also for future generations.  A people cannot protect themselves, their property, or the future of freedom without the tools to do so–guns.  No other defense weapon, for private ownership, has ever been invented that does a better job!  Imagine you are at home, you in one room of your home, and your partner in another room.  Someone breaks into your home.  Your loved one and you are separated, you in one room, your loved one in another.   The intruder has a gun held to your loved one’s head and on his knees.  Now, imagine your only defensive weapon is a baseball bat, crowbar, or other some such weapon that you could use, but it is no match for the weapon in the intruder’s hand.  What will you do?  You will wish you had a comparable fighting chance at survival for you and the person you love.  Now, imagine that an Administration, in the distant future, if you like, has designs on turning your beloved freedom into slavery, serfdom, or other indentured servitude.  This has happened before in every past and current dictator-ruled, nation.  First, the guns are always confiscated from the citizenry.  After that, everything is downhill going.  Now, you may be willing to allow such a takeover of your liberties, but there are a multitude of those who will not give up quietly.  And whether, or not, you realize it, those people in the past, who were just as unwilling to accept servitude, are the people to which we owe our  gratitude for the freedom we have today–freedom we are losing quickly today.

When we allow some to dictate to the rest what rights they may or may not keep, we are oppressing.  The Founders provided a process for which we may make changes to our Constitution if, and when we feel the need.  That is the appropriate way to make this kind of change.  The debate we are having in this country over gun control is not about saving lives, and it is not about safety.  If it were, then as I described above, it would only be a matter of time before all other areas of our lives would be dictated to for the sake of safety.  Even our Founders knew that to exchange freedom for a degree of security is a very, very bad and dangerous thing for a free country.

Gun control, even minimal infringement, is not, and never has been about safety or saving lives.  It is about controlling the people.  And it comes with a very big caveat!  When people willingly hand over the Constitutional liberty to own guns, they do so with the same consequences for the future—a future in which leaders/rulers with designs on ruling with an iron, dictatorial fist is easily done!  A current Administration without such designs does not secure the future.  It is the people, and the people only, who maintain, or give away their freedom. History shows us, government takeovers always begin with gun confiscation!  Armed revolution is rarely the case, and a successful usurpation of government  happens without the peoples’ notice.  A nudge here–a nudge there–and before the people know it, a free country is under the thumb of a dictator.  Why risk the only last line of resistance a people have against tyranny?  Why risk life and limb and that of loved ones when actual safety can be in one’s own hands if one chooses it?

Our Founders wrote about duty to defend the Constitution they gave us.  They wrote about our duty to place in office those that would not infringe upon any of our natural,  inalienable rights.  They placed upon us, the people, the burden to remain watchful over our natural rights, and over those we choose to represent us.  We lost sight of that job, and when we did, we lost our American history to the extent that we no longer know the difference between a natural right and an entitlement–between a Republic, which the US has always been, and a Democracy–between a negative right and a positive one.  Because we are Americans, born here, or immigrated here and taken on American citizenship, we are assigned to protect that freedom from an oppressive government.

What will it take to stop any and all violence against life?  Although a very small percentage of gun deaths are by the mentally ill, most of the mass shootings are perpetrated by mentally ill individuals.  America has a dim view of anyone with a mental issues, and sadly, no amount of political correctness has made a dent in our preconceived notions about the “crazy!”  We do not understand the definition of mental illness.  We don’t know that one issue is different from another.  We don’t know that the vast majority, likely in the upper ninety percentile, of those suffering from mental health issues are not more dangerous than anybody else.  And when there is danger to life, it is to that of the sufferer and not another.  We all could be better informed about the myriad facets of mental health, but I don’t see that in my life time.  Again, the mentally ill are not the typical killer, and murder happens due to many, many variables leading up to a specific moment-the moment one chooses to act in such a way that it either injures or kills another human being.  There are as many reasons to kill as there are tools with which to do it.  Thus, the fact that we live and are in this current place on the evolutionary path, are the reasons that some kill, but most do not.  Killing is simply a fact of our life at present.

As Americans, we all must also think about the future consequences of our present actions, for the sake of those in the future.  We must realize that guns DO NOT kill–people kill using guns, cars, blunt objects, sharp objects, poisons, and on and on.  A killer will kill regardless of tool. Criminals will have guns regardless of the law. They always have and they always will.  They do not go through the legal process as do low-abiding citizens.  As for accidental deaths by guns, they are a matter of life’s tragedies, as are accidental deaths by drowning, crashes, falling, overdosing, poison, and on and on.  So, if the real goal is to cut down on death, then we will eventually have to remove everything that could possibly cause death.   You may think this argument ridiculous, but history and science makes it clear to us that, given the opportunity and the means, man will always go toward the darker side of a choice.  That, too, is human nature.  The saying goes, a camel’s nose under the tent, is as good as a camel inside the tent!

Why must we concern ourselves about a remote possibility that a dictator will rule America one day?  Because, as I said above, it’s human nature, and man is insatiable.  Given wealth, he strives for more wealth, and then all wealth.  Given power, he strives for more power, and then all power.  And given control, man ultimately strives for total control!  Easily done when there is no resistance.

NEW YORK – New Zealander Trevor Loudon has just published an encyclopedic new 689-page volume, “The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists and Progressives in the U.S. Congress,” to accompany his 668-page 2011 book, “Barack Obama and the Enemies Within.”

In both volumes, Loudon has proved himself to be among the foremost experts in the world investigating and reporting the penetration of communists, socialists and the current group of “progressives” affiliated with Democratic Party politics who portray themselves as liberals.

In his 2011 book, Loudon presented documented evidence that Barack Obama’s rise in politics was not an accident, but a conscious, decade-long effort by the radical left to promote a candidate with African roots. Obama, he said, was packaged as an engaging and seemingly harmless Trojan Horse radical, sent to Chicago to refine his skills running for office as a Democratic Party politician.

It is impossible to read “Barack Obama and the Enemies Within” without being convinced that Obama’s education in communist ideology stretches from the extracurricular education he received from Communist Party mentor Frank Marshall Davis in Honolulu to his recruitment as a New Party candidate in Chicago, with strong ties to the Democratic Socialists of America.

Loudon continues naming names in his current volume, “The Enemies Within,” which documents how extensively communists, socialists and progressives have penetrated the U.S. Congress, running on the Democratic Party ticket.

The goal of these radicals in Congress, Loudon demonstrates, is the same goal Obama announced when running for president in 2008, to transform the United States from the constitutional republic established by its Founding Fathers into a radical socialist state. The aim is to be achieved through passing extensive social welfare legislation designed to bankrupt a government adhering to concepts of private property and private enterprise.

In an insightful essay on the Democratic Socialists of America, Loudon emphasizes the impact on U.S. radicals of the late Italian Communist Party theoretician Antonio Gramsci, whose writings from prison declared that the “working class revolution” is a dead end, arguing instead that communism can best be achieved “by infiltrating civil society – political parties, churches, labor unions, universities, the media, community groups, etc., to turn them into revolutionary vehicles.”

Similarly, Loudon documents how the Communist Party of the USA itself has adopted a stealth plan to achieve revolutionary goals by decisions made in the 1970s to infiltrate and manipulate the Democratic Party. The plan is to form alliances with the radical elements in organized labor in conjunction with radicals in the African-American community and the feminist movement to establish a progressive coalition on the left that could dominate the national political agenda for decades to come.

His essay on the Institute for Policy Studies provides extensive evidence that the IPS, operating today with the distinction of being oldest – founded in 1963 – and most influential of the far left “think tanks” in Washington, D.C., “works closely with several U.S. Marxist groups, but is particularly close to the Democratic Socialists of America.”

The congressional profiles of current members of Congress provides extensive evidence of radical leftist ties in the backgrounds of top Democratic Party legislators, including Democratic Party Sens. Barbara Boxer, Dick Durbin, Tom Harkin, Barbara Mikulski, Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey, Debbie Stabenow, Al Franken, Sherrod Brown, Ron Wyden, Jeff Merkley, Patty Murray and Tammy Baldwin.

In the House of Representatives, Loudon profiles the radical left background of Democratic Party Reps. Nancy Pelosi, Louis Gutierrez, John Conyers, Charles Rangel, Marcy Kaptur, Peter DeFazio, Sheila Jackson Lee, Jim McDermott and dozens more.

Loudon’s profiles of the radical lawmakers is extensively footnoted, complete with photos, news clips, website screen captures and quotations from published sources that leave no doubt as to the authenticity and accuracy of his allegations.

In documenting the success with which the radical left has captured the politically correct core of Democratic Party politics since the 1970s and the end of the Vietnam War, Loudon joins bestselling author Paul Kengor, who published in 2010 “Dupes: How America’s Adversaries Have Manipulated Conservatives for a Century,” followed in 2012 by “The Communist: Frank Marshall Davis, The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mentor.”

What authors Loudon and Kengor show is that communism in America did not die with the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is alive and well, with ties that run deep today with Barack Obama in the White House and the radical leftist Democrats serving in the halls of Congress.

Loudon will be in Washington, D.C., at the National Press Club Aug. 20 to participate in the all day conference “The Crisis in American Journalism and the Conservative Response,” hosted by the public policy group America’s Survival Inc.

Joining Loudon, who is listed on the program to speak about his book “The Enemies Within,” will be Kengor, presenting his new book, “All the Dupes Fit to Print: Journalists Who Have Served as Tools of Communist Propaganda.”

UK detains, questions partner of NSA leaks reporter Greenwald

By Meghashyam Mali 08/18/13 03:02 PM ET

The partner of journalist Glenn Greenwald, who reported on National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden’s disclosures of secret surveillance programs, was detained at London’s Heathrow Airport by security.

The Guardian reported that David Miranda, who lives with Greenwald in Brazil, was held by officers for nearly 9 hours and told he was being questioned under a U.K. anti-terrorism law.

He was released without charges, but authorities confiscated electronic equipment, including his cell phone, laptop, camera and memory sticks.

Greenwald called the detainment of Miranda “a profound attack on press freedoms and the news gathering process.”

“To detain my partner for a full nine hours while denying him a lawyer, and then seize large amounts of his possessions, is clearly intended to send a message of intimidation to those of us who have been reporting on the NSA and GCHQ [U.K.  Government Communications Headqarters]. The actions of the UK pose a serious threat to journalists everywhere,” he said.

“But the last thing it will do is intimidate or deter us in any way from doing our job as journalists. Quite the contrary: it will only embolden us more to continue to report aggressively,” Greenwald added.

Miranda had been traveling from Berlin to Rio de Janeiro, transiting through London. In Berlin he had met with Laura Poitras, a documentary filmmaker who has worked with Snowden.

Snowden, a former government contractor, disclosed classified documents revealing the NSA’s surveillance of phone and Internet traffic. He is wanted in the U.S. on espionage charges, but has found refuge in Russia, which granted him temporary asylum.

WikiLeaks, which has been aiding Snowden, criticized Miranda’s treatment in a Tweet on Sunday. “We denounce the UK authorities abuse of terrorism legislation to detain NSA journalist Glenn Greenwald’s partner. Brazil must act,” the group said.

Greenwald last month said there were more disclosures coming from Snowden.

“There are vast programs of both domestic and international spying that the world will be shocked to learn about, that the NSA is engaged in with no democratic accountability and that’s what driving our reporting,” Greenwald said.

THE DAILY CALLER by NRA-ILA (MY TWO SENSE: Piers, like many Progressives, lie to support their unsupportable claims because they believe they are outsmarting the rest of us and that they are so important no one would dare question their word. Does everyone know that old Piers was editor of a scandal sheet? What does that tell us about his use of hyperboles so freely? JM)

Gun lies: Piers Morgan tells a whopper

By NRA-ILA

If you have the misfortune to be familiar with Piers Morgan, the British former tabloid “reporter” and “talent judge” known on this side of the Atlantic as CNN’s most overbearing gun control proselytizer, you won’t be surprised at what he did on Tuesday.

It began during an interview with military history expert A.W.R. Hawkins, as Morgan pushed his theory that more gun ownership leads to more crime. Hawkins disagreed, noting that Virginia had recently experienced a significant increase in gun ownership, followed by a significant decrease in violent crime.

The insufferable Morgan then counter-claimed that, according to the FBI, no less, Virginia had the highest murder rate in the United States in 2009. Morgan’s statement would have been true only if 25 states had seceded in 2008, however, and according to the FBI’s 2009 crime report, there were still 50 states in 2009 and Virginia ranked 26thamong them in murder, with a rate 12 percent lower than the national rate.

Virginia’s more recent figures are even more impressive. According to the FBI’s 2011 crime report, from 2010 to 2011 Virginia’s murder rate dropped 20 percent, to 29th in the nation, 21 percent below the national rate. As the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported last year, “Gun-related violent crime in Virginia has dropped steadily over the past six years as the sale of firearms has soared to a new record. . . . The total number of firearms purchased in Virginia increased 73 percent from 2006 to 2011. . . . But the total number of gun-related violent crimes fell 24 percent over that period.”

You would think Morgan had a better handle on the question of rankings, considering that he ranks far down the list among cable news shows, behind Hannity, O’Reilly and a host of other programs.

Is this REAL reason for Brotherhood crackdown?

Islamist group ‘creating own military and terrorist apparatus’

TEL AVIV – The Egyptian army launched their crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood after evidence indicated the Islamist group was creating its own military and terrorist apparatus, a high-ranking Egyptian intelligence official told WND.

The official further stated al-Qaida-linked jihadists have been making their way to the Sinai Peninsula as part of a Muslim Brotherhood effort to accumulate its own independent force.

That force was being coordinated with the Brotherhood’s main political and militant ally, the Jihadi Salafist group, the official said. Yesterday, Egyptian police arrested Mohammed al-Zawahiri, leader of the Salafist group and brother to al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahiri.

The Egyptian intelligence official further stated Turkey has been aiding the Muslim Brotherhood military and terrorist efforts, including with financial support funneled through international firms.

Turkey has also been working with Hamas to aid the so-called rebels in their fight against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials previously speaking to WND.

The Gazan group was specifically asked to help the rebels construct underground tunnels and to advise the jihadist-saturated rebels on adopting some of the tools Hamas previously put to use to confront Israel.

The Egyptian intelligence official confirmed to WND the Hamas-Turkish cooperation and claimed it extended to the Muslim Brotherhood, which asked Hamas to aid in their efforts to build a military wing.

The information may give a larger context for the Egyptian military’s actions and to the ramifications of President Obama’s response to the spiraling violence.

“We appreciate the complexity of the situation,” Obama said in his comments on the situation last week. “The United States strongly condemns the steps that have been taken by Egypt’s interim government and security forces. We deplore violence against civilians. We support universal rights essential to human dignity, including the right to peaceful protest.”

Obama further canceled a U.S.-Egypt biannual joint military exercise, which was scheduled for next month, and warned the U.S. government could reassess financial aid to the Egyptian military.

Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities announced they are considering disbanding the Muslim Brotherhood group as the army continues to break up Brotherhood protest actions across the country.

Those actions have reportedly included attacking churches, Christian homes and businesses.

MY TWO SENSE: THE BIGGEST SACK OF DUMB by JUST ME

Who, in the world of celebrity, is the most ridiculous?

“Seniors love getting junk mail. It’s sometimes their only way of communicating or feeling like they’re part of the real world.”– Harry Reid–Oh yes, Harry, we especially like it when we get those clever and colorful ads offering hearing aids, cemetery plots, and funeral homes!  However, my friend likes the ones about assisted living and nursing homes.  Good grief, Harry, where do you live that this asinine opinion even exists?

“Isn’t it a little racist to call it Black Friday?”– Joy Behar–Joy, you’re over-reaching, just like black Big Brother.

“Is there such a thing as a man-made stroke? In other words, did someone do this to (Democratic Senator Tim Johnson)? …I know what this [Republican] party is capable of.”– Joy Behar on The View–If this claim doesn’t motivate violence against Republicans and Conservatives, then what does?  Anything said by a Republican or a Conservative?

“Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the rights of white men and do not apply to them.”– Mary Frances Berry, former Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights–Yes, you read that correctly.  This woman is a mirror image of all the other hateful, bigoted, and corruption instigators and receivers in Washington, D.C..

“Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs.”– Nancy Pelosi–“500 million” Nancy?  Really?  Calling this comment a slip of the tongue, or caused by a distraction, of sorts, is ludicrous.  First, this statement is tantamount to claiming 500 million Americans are, in fact, working,” and second, America would have to have approximately a population of 2,000 million, unless all children, from birth to sixteen years of age, had jobs, for Nancy’s claim to come anywhere near being valid.  No, Nancy, your statement is pure ignorance of the real America and on a par with dementia, or vice versa.

“Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”– Barack Obama–Would Obama ever confuse the number of children he has or the number of fingers on his left hand?  The number of states in our union is as well ingrained as number of fingers and toes humans are born with.  However, adult Americans do get confused, from time to time, but that confusion usually happens to Baby Boomers because we have lived through two state additions.  Our confusion, when and if it happens, the number of states in the United states computes as 48–NEVER 57, with one to grow on, making a total of 58!  Invariably, when people initially think “48,” they also immediately retract to say “50.”  Again, as with Nancy Pelosi, the president does not know the basics about America, or he is demented or ignorant!

“My fear is that the whole island (of Guam) will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”– Democrat Congressman Hank Johnson–I actually empathize with the humiliation this man must suffer after making such a ludicrous statement, and I don’t wish to cause him further embarrassment.  However, the fact is that he is one who has a certain amount of authority over Americans through legislation, and don’t we want our legislators to know what they’re doing?

Although Joy Behar is the actual trophy winner of “Who Is The Biggest Sack of Dumb,” for highest number of stupid claims, I had not the space, nor the will, to list them all.  It was too tiring.

Out of ideas, Obama’s team throws more words at Egypt’s deadly violence

Posted 09:02 AM ET

AP (A disappointed Egyptian.)

AP (A disappointed Egyptian.)

Major powers like the United States have many ways to attempt to influence the actions of other countries — money, of course, humanitarian and military aid, personal and official contacts, sanctions, the media. None guarantee success.

But one thing guarantees failure: Hedging, Waffling, Whatever you want to call a foggy policy. And that is exactly what President Obama and his team have followed regarding Egypt and beyond. And now — and for perhaps years to come — the United States is paying the price for his Amateur Hour.

It’s yet another facet of the Obama Doctrine of Failure in the Middle East. Iran–Levy international sanctions to cripple the economy to force abandonment of its nuclear weapons development. That didn’t work, so maybe more will.

Libya–Bomb the bejesus out of the dictator’s army to help the rebels topple him, which worked great. A mob murdered him, saved a trial. But what filled the vacuum? Chaos as militias war, generating another potential lawless homeland, a mini-Afghanistan, for al Qaeda & Co. to flourish.

Syria–This time international sanctions will surely work to oust Bashir al-Assad. Except not. He has Russian help. Should we help the rebels? Which ones? OK, we’ll send weapons, even though it’s too late.

Then comes Egypt–The crown jewel of American diplomatic ineptitude, the site of Obama’s grandiose 2009 address to the Muslim world promising a new beginning.

Late to sense the Arab Spring, Obama stuck with dictator President Hosni Mubarak until he was clearly a goner, alienating the rising freedom forces. Late to support the new revolution, he’s all for the new constitution and elections. Which put in place the Muslim Brotherhood.

Late to spot its governing ineptitude and anti-democratic moves, for whatever ignorant or sinister reason Obama is silent about the brotherhood’s obvious moves to smother democracy now that it’s in power.

On his African trip last month and late to grasp the army’s ultimatum to the government to be more inclusive, Obama publicly telephones to support the embattled Brotherhood president hours before he’s ousted by the army, again alienating scores of millions of Egyptian democrats demonstrating for the military to rescue the country.

Meanwhile, thousands of Brotherhood supporters had cordoned off parts of Cairo and elsewhere in recent weeks. The army decided the government could not govern only parts of the country and the Brotherhood wasn’t sincere about negotiating.

So, it moved in Wednesday in force to take over Brotherhood areas. Conflicting reports said at least 400 died, police and protesters. “It was necessary to take a firm stand,” said Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi.

Both Obama and Biden are taking this week off. So, it was left to a deputy press secretary to explain the U.S. attitude: “The United States strongly condemns the use of violence against protesters in Egypt.” (Scroll down for full text.)

Strangely, no mention of Brotherhood violence, including the sacking and burning of government buildings and numerous Coptic Christian churches.

Secy. of State John Kerry, in a hastily-arranged media appearance just as his boss was playing another round of golf on Martha’s Vineyard, added his voice. He deplored the violence, of course, and warned that more of it will only lead to more instability and a longer path to reconciliation.

But while reciting the usual diplomatic yada-yada about both sides respecting the rights of others, Kerry announced no changes in U.S. policy. The administration has refrained from calling the military’s ouster of the Brotherhood a “coup” because that would, by law, trigger an automatic suspension of this country’s $1.3 billion in aid per year.

Truth is, that’s about the only U.S. leverage left. and it’s dwindling, as billions more in aid flood into Egypt from conservative Gulf regimes eager to stem the tide of radical Islamists.

Kerry gave an inadvertent admission of the limits of U.S. influence Wednesday. Instead of substantive actions, he was reduced to describing the many telephone calls he had made to Egypt and elsewhere. To no effect obviously, as the fighting raged all day.

Two years ago when Libyan rebels seized the capital of Tripoli, Obama interrupted his island vacation to make a TV statement, which gave him a large share of ownership of what became this Libyan mess including the Benghazi attack.

His absence was notable Wednesday. The White House only released a photo of Obama talking with security adviser Susan Rice over a lovely floral arrangement, presumably not about quarterback Tom Brady’s knee injury.

Statement on Egypt by Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest

The United States strongly condemns the use of violence against protesters in Egypt. We extend our condolences to the families of those who have been killed, and to the injured.

We have repeatedly called on the Egyptian military and security forces to show restraint, and for the government to respect the universal rights of its citizens, just as we have urged protesters to demonstrate peacefully.

Violence will only make it more difficult to move Egypt forward on a path to lasting stability and democracy, and runs directly counter to the pledges by the interim government to pursue reconciliation.

We also strongly oppose a return to a State of Emergency law, and call on the government to respect basic human rights such as freedom of peaceful assembly, and due process under the law. The world is watching what is happening in Cairo. We urge the government of Egypt – and all parties in Egypt — to refrain from violence and resolve their differences peacefully. ####

HOT AIR by ED MORRISSEY (MY TWO SENSE: My son hasn’t had a 40 hour a week job in 4 years. My daughter goes to school and works full time just in case she might better provide for a better life for her child and herself. Both son and daughter have college degrees, and my son cannot find a job in his field, so he works at other part-time jobs and struggles to pay off student loans. My daughter is working in her chosen field, however, in order to make a decent living, and not have to live paycheck to paycheck, she had to go back to school, take out more student loans, and work full-time hours for health insurance. My kids do not suck off tax payers, and they don’t suck off me, even though they could if they wanted to. They don’t want to. They want to make it on their own, and no matter what any sonofabitch says, what they have done thus far, they have, indeed built it themselves, and they, in fact do own it! Now, why in the hell is this selfish, bigoted, flamboyant White House family taking another vacation on the backs of tax payer dollars?! And why is the first dog living better than half of the hard-working Americans in this country?? I am morally outraged at this narcissistic family’s egoism, their greed, and lust for more and more–their constant demands on tax payers. It boggles a rational mind how any of their behavior is acceptable to anyone at all. My God, Presidents and First Ladies, before this crew, went without elegant lifestyles when this country was in trouble, but this family is too good for that. So much for bobama and his continuous bashing of the rich. Are you people, on the Progressive Left, even noticing this enormous paradox perpetuated by an extremely wealthy President that continues to suck dry the sweat from the brow of American laborers! Barack Hussein Obama is one of the wealthiest people in the world! How is he getting away with it? JM)

The inevitable “Bo gets his own Osprey” post

posted at 8:41 am on August 12, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

File this in the too good to check category.  As the Obamas trekked to Martha’s Vineyard for vacation at the multi-million dollar estate of a private equity mogul — not Mitt Romney, of course! — they must have run out of room for the First Dog, at least according to the Telegraph:

Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft.

Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.

In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.

Bo, the president’s Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.

Color me highly skeptical on the spin applied to this rather mundane statement.  The V-22 Osprey has enough capacity to carry as many as 24 troops seated or 32 without seats.  The Obamas’ Secret Service details and the support communication equipment that has to accompany the President probably took up all of the room on one Osprey. If Bo traveled separately from the Obamas, he probably went with some of the support personnel who also traveled to Martha’s Vineyard on a second Osprey.

It seems doubtful in the extreme that the other V-22 Osprey would have gone empty to Martha’s Vineyard with just Bo and a bowl of Iams. The Telegraph certainly insinuates that Bo flew first class on his own in the first paragraph, but nowhere reports anything except that Bo went on the other Osprey, not that Bo was the reason for the second Osprey.

Presidents go on vacation all the time, and it’s always fun for a little class warfare no matter who’s in office at the time.  Still, the choice of David Schulte’s residence provides a heaping helping of hypocrisy from Barack Obama, whose campaign demonized private-equity investment firms and Mitt Romney throughout all of last year:

Obama and his family arrived Saturday at the $7.6 million home of David Schulte, founder of the private equity firm Chilmark Partners. The four-bedroom, 5,000-square foot home sits on nine and a half acres in the Chilmark area of Martha’s Vineyard and boasts “floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Atlantic.” According to Bloomberg’s Juliana Goldman, “While the First Family’s there, they can swim in the Infinity pool, they could shoot hoops on a half-basketball court, even hit the gym, they could also play tennis on the tennis court there.” …

Schulte, whose private equity firm specializes in mergers and acquisitions and corporate “restructuring,” was one of Obama’s 2013 inaugural donors. Before founding the Chicago-based Chilmark Partners in 1984, Schulte, a Yale Law School graduate, directed the Wall Street investment bank Salomon Brothers’ “Corporate Reorganization Group.”

Meanwhile, another private equity group founder, former Bain Capital CEO Mitt Romney, slammed President Obama’s job performance in a speech last week in the New England summer resort town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Private equity is now cool again, huh? Go figure.

Obama’s half brother close friends with Sudan’s Omar al-Bashir, IRS gave their foundation preferential treatment

In this photo, from the Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF) website, headed by Malik, Omar al-Bashir can be seen dressed in black, to the right. Another man to take notice of is seated directly to the right of Bashir; his name is Suar Al Dahab.

A foundation headed by President Obama’s half brother Malik, and called the Barack H. Obama Foundation received an IRS tax exemption within a month of its application despite having connections to the terrorist Bashir regime in Sudan (Hat Tip: Sunlight).

The Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF) is linked to top Sudanese officials, a regime accused of terrorism and genocide.

Walid Shoebat reported:

It has been learned that the relationship between President Barack Obama’s half-brother Malik Obama and Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir is much closer than previously thought…

…In 2010, Malik Obama attended the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) conference in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. One of the objectives of the IDO is to spread Wahhabist Islam across the African continent.

Al-Bashir wasn’t just present at the conference; he supervised it.

Read the whole thing.

But if you’re a pro-Israel organization or you otherwise disagree with Obama’s policies, you can’t get an exemption and you have to sue the IRS.

I guess that’s the Chicago way. It’s sickening.

CONFIRMED: IRS Gave Preferential Treatment to Malik Obama’s Charity – Now Found Linked to Genocidal Regime

MALIK OBAMA’S CHARITY LINKED TO GENOCIDAL REGIME!

In light of the recent revelations that the IRS has been unfairly targeting conservative groups, President Obama’s half-brother “got a sweetheart deal” from the IRS. According to the Daily Caller, Lois Lerner, the senior IRS official at the center of the decision to target tea party groups for burdensome tax scrutiny, signed paperwork granting tax-exempt status to the Barack H. Obama Foundation, a shady charity headed by the president’s half-brother that operated illegally for years. Lerner approved the foundation’s tax status within a month of filing.

But now there is evidence that the Barack H. Obama Foundation is linked to terrorism and genocide.

Omar Al-Bashir is a controversial figure both in Sudan and worldwide. In July 2008, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), accused al-Bashir of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur. The court issued an arrest warrant for al-Bashir on counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Al-Bashir and top Sudanese officials are pictured with Malik Obama on the front page of the Barack H. Obama website. And, the IRS gave this group preferential treatment over American conservative and pro-Constitutional groups.

THE BLAZE by BECKET ADAMS (MY TWO SENSE: Is this a joke?! No, I know there is no levity here. In fact, this nation has lost all funny-bone sensation, and now is being led around by the nose of low self-esteem, people who are continuously offended. Of all the real offenses man can, and does, perpetrate on his fellows, why are we wasting time on nonsense such as the story below? A man defends his property–his store–and now holds his breath to find out whether or not he has lost his lease. This bizare predicament had to have been created by either an inexperienced dunder-headed youth or a Liberal Progressive pretending to be a gentle soul. Whoever turned this particular mall into a gun-free zone prior to the attempted robbery is misinformed or an idiot. Gun-free zones are as rediculous as zero tolerance for violence in schools. In the former, unarmed security guards have died in the line of duty simply because they were unarmed against armed thungs. In the latter case, zero-tolerance for violence at school does not end violence. It is word salad, catch 22 bs stemming from an odd mindset that operates like this: When school violence happens, it is dealt with internally, and goes undocumented. But the suspension and arrest of a child wearing an NRA tee shirt is the flamboyant, public display that screams, “THIS IS A ZERO TOLERANCE SCHOOL!” It’s all smoke and mirrors, trickery and double talk, and has absolutely nothing to do with integrity, ethics, protecting children and/or other lives. Businessman Could Lose Lease After Using Gun to Defend Store

A Tennessee man may lose the lease on his store because he used a gun to defend his business, according to WREG-TV.

The shooting took place on Wednesday after three men entered the business owner’s cookie store located in the Southland Mall in Memphis and grabbed $45 from the cash register.

The store owner chased the men from his shop and into the mall parking lot and fired what WREG-TV says were three warning shots from his 9mm.

But now his lease may be in trouble because the mall has a strict “no firearm” policy, the video report notes.

“Bringing a gun and then pulling it out in front of a bunch of people that’s setting a bad example for your company,” one Memphis resident told the local news team.

Luckily, there were no injuries.

“It could have been a smarter way for it but I guess it’s just a quick reaction based on his instincts and all that. You getting away with my stuff that I worked for and you trying to take it and think I’m not fixing to do nothing about it,” the Memphis resident continued.

Since the 2010 shooting death of a security guard, the mall has worked hard to repair its image a “family friendly” shopping destination. Not even the security guards carry guns.

The store owner’s decision to break the mall’s no-firearm policy and then fire the weapon means he may need to relocate his store to a different area.

“He could have hit anybody. There are a lot of kids out here in this area, especially around this time at that mall,” said another Memphis resident.

Police are still searching from the three suspects. The mall’s management has not yet commented on the status of the store owner’s lease.
