Students Suspended For Holding Airsoft Guns In Photo Taken In Living Room
Two Massachusetts high school sweethearts—Tito Velez and Jamie Pereira—are suspended from school after posing with Airsoft toy guns for a photograph at home before attending a homecoming dance last week.
Pereira and Velez are students at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School. The photo was taken by Velez’s father in their living room and then posted to Facebook.
According to NECN.com, Pereira said, “We took [the pictures] with the Airsoft guns because that’s our hobby, and we wanted to include them.” But school officials argue that the photo caused “a disruption at the school.”
School district superintendent Dr. Richard Gross said he didn’t have a problem with the Airsoft guns, and he understands free speech. However, he “takes issue with the caption below the photo that reads ‘Homecoming 2014.'” He added: “When you tie that to a school event, that’s something to be concerned about.”
Velez defended the couple’s photograph on CBS Boston, explaining that the guns are toys that shoot plastic pellets. Yet Dr. Gross said the entire homecoming dance would have been canceled had police discovered the photo prior to the start of the event.
The suspension may last as long as 10 days, although the superintendent says there will be a hearing to consider reducing the punishment.

MY TWO SENSE
After I take photos of family or other functions, I always title it with descriptive words so that years later, when I feel nostalgic, and look at pictures of times gone by, I’ll know when and where the shots were taken. I don’t see the difference here. Gross claimed that had the police known about the photo, they would have shut down the dance altogether. I tend to believe that as Massachusetts is a state in which Islamic terrorists live and torment Americans whenever their paths cross. That state is like a third-world country, surrounded on all sides, by states of the United States of America. Massachusetts’ state legislative body leans so far Left it lies on its side, and it continues to rotate. Here’s a thought, I wonder if Dr. Richard Gross is a racist!? Hmmmmmmmmmm . . . .

Janet Napolitano’s Major Admission: Saudi Student Was Put on Watchlist
Apr. 23, 2013 3:36pm
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano admitted Tuesday that a Saudi national once identified as a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombings was put on a terror watchlist after the attack.
Last week, she refused to answer any questions about the Saudi, calling South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan’s inquiry “so full of misstatements and misapprehension that it’s just not worthy of an answer.”
But today, speaking at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration reform, Napolitano responded to a question posed by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
“Before the [Tsarnaev] brothers became the focus of the investigation, authorities questioned a Saudi student who reportedly was on a terror watchlist,” Grassley said. “I sent a letter to you this morning asking for answers to questions about the bombers and how they interacted with your agency, I trust you will promptly respond…”
“With regard to the Saudi student, was he on a watchlist, and if so, how did he obtain a student visa?” Grassley asked.
Napolitano firmly responded: “He was not on a watchlist. What happened is — this student was, really when you back it out, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was never a subject. He was never even really a person of interest. Because he was being interviewed, he was at that point put on a watchlist, and then when it was quickly determined he had nothing to do with the bombing, the watch listing status was removed.” [Emphasis added]
Watch the entire interaction via C-SPAN below (if the video doesn’t load right away, hit refresh):
However, Napolitano has thus far refused to comment on why Alharbi was given the Section 212, 3B terrorist designation despite inquiries from Sen. Grassley and members of the House Homeland Security Committee.
Alharbi is currently considered innocent and in no way connected to the Boston bombings, or the two brothers identified as suspects by the FBI.
It was a rough day on the hill for Napolitano as she was also grilled by lawmakers regarding the conflicting accounts of whether the FBI knew the older Boston bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, had made a trip to Russia.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was particularly concerned about the conflicting reports coming from the FBI and DHS about the older suspect’s Russia trip. He told Napolitano “They told me that they had no knowledge of him leaving or coming back so I would like to talk to you more about this case.”
This is a breaking news story. Updates may be added.

Boston bombers: FBI hunting 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

26-year-old brother and a rookie cop dead.
Dzhokhar is said to
have run his brother over as he escaped in a stolen car while Tamerlan

the time, three of which exploded, as well as a handgun and rifle. The
devices were thought to be pipe bombs.
Last night Dzhokhar – badly

‘Looked Right At Me’: Victim With Both Legs Amputated Wakes Up From Surgery and Confirms Seeing Bomber
Apr. 19, 2013 6:58am
A victim of the Boston bombings Monday with some of the most graphic wounds caught on photograph reportedly woke up in a drugged haze after surgery and in recovery, saw the FBI’s pictures of the two suspects that had been released and said one of them “looked right at me.”
The brother of Jeff Bauman, who had both legs amputated below the knee, said in an interview, according to Bloomberg, that the 27-year-old was waiting for his girlfriend to finish the race when he claims to have seen one of the suspects, wearing a black jacket, a cap and sunglasses. He dropped a bag at Bauman’s feet.
“He woke up under so much drugs, asked for a paper and pen and wrote, ‘bag, saw the guy, looked right at me,’” Chris Bauman, Jeff’s brother, said Thursday in an interview.
Chris Bauman is later reported as saying he has been alone with his brother “many times” when he had told him “every single detail.”
As of Thursday just before 11 p.m. EST, gunshots were fired on MIT’s campus and some officials confirmed the death of one of the suspects in Watertown, Massachusetts, while Friday the other remains at large. An MIT police officer was killed in on campus. Boston suburbs are on lockdown Friday morning as a safety precaution.
Bauman was pictured being rushed from the scene in a wheelchair after the bombings near the finish line just before 3 p.m. April 15. The cowboy hat-wearing man helping rescue him was soon thereafter deemed a hero who helped other victims, and is also the father of a fallen soldier and peace activist who was watching the marathon for those running in honor of his sons.
Bauman’s father said on his Facebook page that his son had to have both lower limbs removed at Boston Medical Center because of extensive vascular and bone damage. He said his son also had to have another surgery because of fluid in his abdomen.
Here’s more from Bloomberg about how the Bauman family found out about Jeff’s condition:
It would take hours before the Bauman family knew what had happened to Jeff. They learned about it the way much of the world did: the grisly image on television of their son being wheeled from the scene, his lower legs destroyed.
Erika Schneider, Bauman’s sister, saw it first. “She called my mom, freaking out,” Chris said. Chris was working at a McDonald’s near their home in Concord, New Hampshire, when his mother called him.
“Chris, you have to sprint home,” she said. “Something’s happened.”
Bauman’s girlfriend was not hurt in the blast. But the victim’s father said his son was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

‘Arrests in Pakistan, Afghanistan’ in bombing probe
Al-Qaida forums boast of attack while no group takes official responsibility

TEL AVIV – An al-Qaida-allied group in the Gaza Strip claimed to WND that there have been arrests of jihadists in both Pakistan and Afghanistan as part of the probe into yesterday’s Boston Marathon explosions.
The arrests could not be immediately confirmed.
Members of Gaza’s Jihadiya Salafia group further said that al-Qaida is being credited for the attack in its affiliated online forums.
The Gaza sources told WND the online al-Qaida forum messages claimed the bombings were an al-Qaida response to a U.S. military airstrike that killed a high-profile Taliban leader and four other Taliban members last week near Afghanistan’s eastern border with Pakistan.
Jihadia Salafia represents al-Qaida in Gaza.
It was not immediately clear whether the Internet claims should be taken seriously or simply represented jihadists utilizing the explosions.

President Obama was careful not to use the words “terror” or “terrorism” as he spoke at the White House yesterday, while an administration official said the bombings were being treated as an act of terrorism.
“We will find out who did this. We’ll find out why they did this,” the president said. “Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice.”
The FBI has taken charge of the investigation. A 20-year-old Saudi national reportedly was taken into custody near the scene of the attack.
The New York Post reported the suspect was being questioned by the FBI and local police at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was under heavy guard while being treated for shrapnel injuries to his leg sustained in one of the blasts.
A large group of federal and state law enforcement agents reportedly raided an apartment in a building in the Saudi man’s hometown of Revere, Mass.
CNN reported the search took place by consent, according to a federal law enforcement source, meaning no search warrant was needed.
The Pakistani Taliban today reportedly denied any role in the marathon bombings.
Media blame right-wing
While the initial indications may point toward Islamic terrorism, some in the media have been speculating it could have been a domestic attack, with some analysts suggesting “right wing extremists” were involved.
CNN national-security analyst Peter Bergen said some of the information will become clear when police reveal what kind of explosive was used.
Bergen said al-Qaida often uses hydrogen peroxide explosives, while another type of explosion might signal that a “right-wing extremist” was involved.
The explosions, Bergan said, reminded him of the Oklahoma City bombing, for which Timothy McVeigh was arrested, convicted and executed.
And Bergen said it also brought to mind other “right-wing” attacks.
“Right-wing groups trying to attack, for instance – trying to attack the Martin Luther King parade in Oregon in 2010,” he said. “So, if it is a device of some kind, you know, we shouldn’t leap to conclusion about where it’s coming from.”
Also today, the U.K. Independent ran a report quoting a terror expert who claimed the marathon attack has hints the handiwork of a right-wing terrorist attack rather than al Qaida-inspired extremism.
Richard Barrett, the former United Nations coordinator for the al-Qaida and Taliban monitoring team, said it was too early to say who was to blame for the marathon blasts.
But Barrett, who has served with Britain’s MI5, MI6 and the Foreign Office, told the Independent the timing of the attack on Patriots’ Day and the relatively small size of the devices suggested the work of a domestic extremist.
Barrett, who is now senior director at the Qatar International Academy for Security Studies, said: “At the moment it looks more likely that it was a right-wing terrorist incident, rather than an al-Qaida attack because of the size of the devices.”
He added: “This happened on Patriots’ Day, it is also the day Americans are supposed to have their taxes in, and Boston is quite a symbolic city. These are all little indicators.”
Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis said authorities had received “no specific intelligence that anything was going to happen” at the race.

There is a double standard: White terrorists are dealt with as lone wolves, Islamists are existential threats
As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.
This has been most obvious in the context of recent mass shootings. In those awful episodes, a religious or ethnic minority group lacking such privilege would likely be collectively slandered and/or targeted with surveillance or profiling (or worse) if some of its individuals comprised most of the mass shooters. However, white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated/targeted for those shootings — even though most come at the hands of white dudes.
Likewise, in the context of terrorist attacks, such privilege means white non-Islamic terrorists are typically portrayed not as representative of whole groups or ideologies, but as “lone wolf” threats to be dealt with as isolated law enforcement matters. Meanwhile, non-white or developing-world terrorism suspects are often reflexively portrayed as representative of larger conspiracies, ideologies and religions that must be dealt with as systemic threats — the kind potentially requiring everything from law enforcement action to military operations to civil liberties legislation to foreign policy shifts.
“White privilege is knowing that even if the bomber turns out to be white, no one will call for your group to be profiled as terrorists as a result, subjected to special screening or threatened with deportation,” writes author Tim Wise. “White privilege is knowing that if this bomber turns out to be white, the United States government will not bomb whatever corn field or mountain town or stale suburb from which said bomber came, just to ensure that others like him or her don’t get any ideas. And if he turns out to be a member of the Irish Republican Army we won’t bomb Dublin. And if he’s an Italian-American Catholic we won’t bomb the Vatican.”
Because of these undeniable and pervasive double standards, the specific identity of the Boston Marathon bomber (or bombers) is not some minor detail — it will almost certainly dictate what kind of governmental, political and societal response we see in the coming weeks. That means regardless of your particular party affiliation, if you care about everything from stopping war to reducing the defense budget to protecting civil liberties to passing immigration reform, you should hope the bomber was a white domestic terrorist. Why? Because only in that case will privilege work to prevent the Boston attack from potentially undermining progress on those other issues.
To know that’s true is to simply consider how America reacts to different kinds of terrorism.
Though FBI data show fewer terrorist plots involving Muslims than terrorist plots involving non-Muslims, America has mobilized a full-on war effort exclusively against the prospect of Islamic terrorism. Indeed, the moniker “War on Terrorism” has come to specifically mean “War on Islamic Terrorism,” involving everything from new laws like the Patriot Act, to a new torture regime, to new federal agencies like the Transportation Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security, to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to mass surveillance of Muslim communities.
By contrast, even though America has seen a consistent barrage of attacks from domestic non-Islamic terrorists, the privilege and double standards baked into our national security ideologies means those attacks have resulted in no systemic action of the scope marshaled against foreign terrorists. In fact, it has been quite the opposite — according to Darryl Johnson, the senior domestic terrorism analyst at the Department of Homeland Security, the conservative movement backlash to merely reporting the rising threat of such domestic terrorism resulted in DHS seriously curtailing its initiatives against that particular threat. (Irony alert: When it comes specifically to fighting white non-Muslim domestic terrorists, the right seems to now support the very doctrine it criticized Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry for articulating — the doctrine that sees fighting terrorism as primarily “an intelligence-gathering, law-enforcement, public-diplomacy effort” and not something more systemic.)
Enter the Boston bombing. Coming at the very moment the U.S. government is planning to withdraw from Afghanistan, considering cuts to the Pentagon budget, discussing civil liberties principles and debating landmark immigration legislation, the attack could easily become the fulcrum of all of those contentious policy debates — that is, depending on the demographic profile of the assailant.
If recent history is any guide, if the bomber ends up being a white anti-government extremist, white privilege will likely mean the attack is portrayed as just an isolated incident — one that has no bearing on any larger policy debates. Put another way, white privilege will work to not only insulate whites from collective blame, but also to insulate the political debate from any fallout from the attack.
It will probably be much different if the bomber ends up being a Muslim and/or a foreigner from the developing world. As we know from our own history, when those kind of individuals break laws in such a high-profile way, America often cites them as both proof that entire demographic groups must be targeted, and that therefore a more systemic response is warranted. At that point, it’s easy to imagine conservatives citing Boston as a reason to block immigration reform defense spending cuts and the Afghan War withdrawal and to further expand surveillance and other encroachments on civil liberties.
If that sounds hard to believe, just look at yesterday’s comments by right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham, whose talking points often become Republican Party doctrine. Though authorities haven’t even identified a suspect in the Boston attack, she (like other conservatives) seems to already assume the assailant is foreign, and is consequently citing the attack as rationale to slam the immigration reform bill.
The same Laura Ingraham, of course, was one of the leading voices criticizing the Department of Homeland Security for daring to even report on right-wing domestic terrorism. In that sense, she perfectly embodies the double standard that, more than anything, will determine the long-term political impact of the Boston bombing.

Liberal Mayors Deny Businesses the Right to Operate in Their Cities
Big-City mayors are attacking Chick-fil-A by threatening to deny them a business license to operate. These liberal mayors don’t like the public stand the owners have taken on defending biblical marriage. This is tyranny of the first order. First it was punishment for “hate crimes,” then it was for “hate speech,” and now it’s hate “thought crimes.”
The mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, welcomes an anti-semite but refuses to allow a Christian business to operate within the city. Emanuel said, “Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors, and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values.” I suppose the “values” of an anti-semite are Chicago’s values:
Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods.
Maybe if these gang members had jobs at Chick-fil-A violence would go down. When will Jews get the message that Democrats are not their friends?
Even liberal newspaper editorials think the actions of the mayors of Chicago, Boston, and Mountain View, California, are way out of line:
“Public officials have a responsibility to carry out their ministerial tasks fairly and evenhandedly – and to uphold the principle of free speech – whether or not they like a business executive’s social or political stances,” the [Los Angeles] Times opined.
“The Boston Globe wondered “which part of the First Amendment does [Boston Mayor Thomas] Menino not understand? A business owner’s political or religious beliefs should not be a test for the worthiness of his or her application for a business license.”
What’s next? If a business owner opposes abortion — even though he is not in the anti-abortion business — will that business owner be denied a business license? Will Republican business owners be denied a business license if they oppose ObamaCare?
Will churches be denied the right to exist in liberal cities if they continue to preach against abortion and homosexuality or anything else that the powers that be consider to be ideologically inappropriate? These are not far-fetched concerns. Canada and some European governments will prosecute ministers who take a public stand against homosexuality.
The owners of Chick-fil-A believe certain things. Everybody believes certain things. Does a belief system disqualify someone from operating a business? Boston Mayor Tom Menino knows that he can’t deny a business license to someone for what he believes, so he’s accusing Chick-fil-A of actual discrimination:
“You can’t have a business in the City of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city. We’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion.”
As anyone who has followed this story knows, Chick-fil-A does not discriminate against anyone. Everybody is served. No questions are asked. It wouldn’t surprise me that there are a lot of business owners in Boston who are racists and sexists. Will the mayor shut them down?
Then there’s the job side in all of this. The economy is suffering. People want jobs, and the mayors of these cities are denying people access to a great work environment, good pay, and benefits.
MY TWO CENTS
GOOD GOD! If there is anyone left out there still thinking this is the White House we want, then that individual will never see the reality of our situation! No, the President did not do this–it is the liberal mayors, however, it was this administration that started the ball rolling with the bowing and the scraping and the suck up to the East as well as to any other progressive agenda that undermines our Constitution and this Republic. This cannot be allowed to continue in America. What are we going to do about it? How about volunteering to work for Conservative politicians running in the November election? How about working very hard to dump Claire McCaskill. Once, she actually told me that she votes her conscience, and I asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be voting the consciences of your constituents?” There was no comment, but I didn’t really expect one.
