UNITED STATES FREEDOM ARMY
END OF MONTH REPORT AS OF 08/31/2014
CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOM MARCH
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
“When your children and grandchildren ask you what happened to America make sure you can say ‘I tried my best to stop it’.”
“An excuse is an explanation of failure.”
“Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.”
MARCH ON WASHINGTON D.C.: NO WEAPONS AT THE MUSTER POINT OR THEREAFTER.
This is our last appeal. Anyone and everyone who will be attending and has not informed us – we need to know now. The March has changed. There will no longer be a specified route for the Cross Country March.
We will hold the specified route concept in abeyance until next year when it will be reevaluated. For a variety of reasons we are cancelling the specified route for the March and each person will be responsible for getting to the Muster Point in their own way. You may construct your own March, you may fly in to D.C., take your RV or develop any scenario you so desire to reach the Muster Point to meet on September 17, 2014 (Constitution Day).
NO WEAPONS AT THE MUSTER POINT OR THEREAFTER.
The Muster Point this year will be the Springfield Mall in Springfield, VA. We will meet from 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at the Muster Point. We will then travel from there by METRO to the Capitol. The Springfield Mall is very close to the intersection of I-95 and I-495. The Springfield Mall is bounded on the North by Franconia Road E., on the East by Frontier Road, on the South by Spring Mall Rd., and on the West by Loisdale Road. We will meet on the South section of the mall on Spring Mall Rd. about halfway between Loisdale Road and Frontier Road. From the Southeast corner of the Springfield Mall it is only about ¼ mile to the METRO Franconia-Springfield Station from where we will take the BLUE Line getting off at the METRO L’Enfant Station and walking four blocks to the meeting point. It is almost impossible to park in D.C. on a weekday and even if you can find a place it will cost you $50 to $60 to park whereas the METRO station parking is $4.75. The total cost to park and ride the METRO round trip will be about $15.
There are no public restrooms (except for emergencies) on the METRO trains or in the METRO stations. When we get to the meeting point there will be restrooms available. You have been warned! Take precautions as necessary. There is a restaurant near the Comfort Inn off Loisdale Road that serves breakfast and has restrooms. There is also a restaurant just off Franconia Road E. in the Springfield Mall.
The METRO ride to the Capitol takes about 30 minutes. We will meet on the lawn between the Capitol and the Washington Monument and directly across from the Air and Space Museum on that side of the lawn.
There are hotels/motels on Loisdale Road near the Northwest portion of the Springfield Mall. They are the Hilton Hotel, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn and the Courtyard Marriott. The Marriott is slightly farther than the others and is near the intersection of Loisdale Road and Franconia Road W. Those of you who fly in to Reagan Airport and do not wish to rent a car may get on the Blue Line at Reagan Airport and go to the Franconia-Springfield Station and walk to one of the hotels/motels mentioned above. The walk is about ½ mile. Reservations suggested.
Dress and act like the fine patriotic people you are. If you wish to wear military apparel that is fine. If you are active duty military get permission from your commander before wearing any active duty military apparel.
NO WEAPONS AT THE MUSTER POINT OR THEREAFTER.
We are planning on making this an annual event. Be thinking of how we can get some publicity, local news coverage, TV, or whatever. Anyone may participate in this march and they do not have to be enlisted with us. We will leave the Capitol at approximately 6:00 P.M. and return to the Muster Point. At approximately 7:00 P.M. we will meet for dinner at a location near the Muster Point to be announced on September 17.
We need people to be at the Muster Point so we can go to Washington D.C. and make our complaints clear. Did you read the five quotes at the top of this report? If not, read them again. This is the time. We especially need the people from VA, MD, DE, WV, TN, NC and other nearby states to come help us on September 17. Bring any like-minded people you know with you – the more people we have the more government areas we can cover. We need to cover the Congress, Supreme Court, the IRS and as many Executive Branch offices as we can. There is no need to go to the White House since it will not do any good.
Respond to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are planning to attend.
We need patriots in Washington, D.C. on September 17.
If you absolutely cannot come, we need you to pass out flyers in your local area on September 17. If you cannot pass them out on September 17 pass them out as closely as you possibly can to September 17. The best place to pass them out is at your nearest military installation – we need to remind our military of their oath. If you cannot get to a military installation pass them out at your local federal government offices. IRS offices or any federal court is good. Find a federal government agency near you and pass them out. As a last resort go to your local Post Office and pass them out. Before you go to any of these federal government entities make sure you do some reconnaissance and find out what the rules are. We want to do all of this in a perfectly legal manner and we want to pass these flyers out all over the nation.
Some of you are disappointed because we are only passing out flyers. This is what we can do at this time. If it helps you to visualize this look at the flyer as your weapon, look at the words on the flyer as your ammunition, and look at the work in D.C. as maneuvers and reconnaissance.
The flyers are extremely important to what we are attempting to accomplish. The first step is to make crystal clear what your complaint consists of in the shortest possible way. Anything over one page is too long and no one will read it. It must be short and to the point. During Operation American Spring they passed out large packets with volumes of information inside. No one will read that much information unless they are being paid to do so. We want a short printed record of our position that cannot be misunderstood.
Let us know as soon as possible if you will be coming to the Muster Point and how many you will be bringing. People do not have to be enlisted to participate.
RECRUITING UPDATE AS OF 8/31/2014:
As many of you know, we are spending our first year only recruiting. We will never stop recruiting of course, but we will have other objectives in addition to recruiting after our first year. This web site was launched on September 17 (Constitution Day), 2013 and we started recruiting about 5 days later.
TX still leads in total recruits with 10.4% of all recruits. Following TX is CA (8.0%) FL (7.2%) NC (4.2%) GA (3.8%) PA (3.4%) TN (3.3%) NY (3.3%). CA and PA both had a good month.
Based upon state population for states with over two million in population the top eight are: TN MS AL NV SC NC OK KY. OK and KY both had a good showing in August. States with under two million in population are led by WY, NH, ME, ID and NE.
This paragraph is not statistically accurate and is an approximation since some of our enlistees do not give us complete information. Our female enlistees are staying at about 4 out of every 10. About 45% of all enlistees (including some female) have military experience. We have every military grade from E-1 to E-9, W1 to W4, and O-1 to O-7. We have military with Silver Stars, Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts. We have military with all types of training and awards. Of all enlistees about 65% are in the age category 40-60. About 20% are over 60 and about 15% are under 40. Our over 60 people increased in August. We had several people enlist in August who were born in the 40s and early 50s with military experience – these are almost all Vietnam veterans. This is why we increased our over 60 percentage from 15% to 20%. We also had some younger people enlist in August and that is encouraging.
Recruiting in Nov. 2013 exceeded Oct. 2013 by 24%. Recruiting in Dec. 2013 exceeded Nov. 2013 by 43%. Recruiting in Jan. 2014 exceeded Dec. 2013 by 97%. January enlistees reached 95% of all the previous months combined. Jan. 2014 was a huge month. In February, due to various technical problems, we were only able to recruit for 18 of the 28 days. It is therefore unfair to compare February to any other month. Still, in February and despite all the setbacks, we exceeded our recruiting totals for every other previous month except January 2014 – those results were extremely encouraging. March 2014 was our seventh largest recruiting month. April 2014 was our third largest recruiting month. May 2014 was our sixth largest recruiting month. June 2014 was our fourth largest recruiting month almost reaching April 2014. We are extremely encouraged by the May and June results since often in late May and early June people will not participate due to graduations, vacations and weddings. July 2014 was our largest recruiting month topping January 2014 by 20%. July 3, 4, 5 were our 4th, 5th, and 3rd largest recruiting days ever as the patriotic spirit was kindled by Independence Day. August, in spite of several minor technical problems that hampered us parts of the entire month, was our fifth largest recruiting month just missing June.
During the first five full months after September 2013 we had already surpassed our recruiting goal for the entire first year. Thank you to each one of you for your courage and patriotism. We do not give out strength reports but we can tell everyone that our total strength is >1,000 and <10,000.
We are now in all 50 states, and 11 other countries. We also have enlistees in Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Most of the people enlisted in other countries are Americans living outside the United States. We are like Washington’s Continental Army, however, in the sense that we will welcome help from anyone who is a patriot and wants to see our Constitution restored.
What is the most encouraging are the many people who have enlisted from small towns in America. This is a small town revolution – the people who have not been heard are beginning to speak up. While we have enlistees in many major cities, it is the voices in small town America that ring loudest. The Founder has been in all 50 states and has never heard of many of these cities so we have been looking them up on the Internet – impressive. Find the people in your small town who are fed up and get them enlisted and then form a unit in your town.
As a change of pace this month (and to see if you are paying attention) we have listed below the cities in each state that have the most people enlisted. Many of these are as expected but you will also find some surprises in the list.
Wasilla AK Huntsville AL Hot Springs AR Phoenix AZ
San Diego CA Denver CO New Haven CT Frankford DE
Jacksonville FL Atlanta GA Honolulu HI Des Moines IA
Meridian ID Chicago IL Indianapolis IN Wichita KS
Louisville KY Shreveport LA Boston MA Baltimore MD
Portland ME Lansing MI St. Paul MN St. Louis MO
Laurel MS Butte MT Raleigh NC Richardton ND
Omaha NE Concord NH Toms River NJ Albuquerque NM
Las Vegas NV Rochester NY Toledo OH Tulsa OK
Portland OR Philadelphia PA Wakefield RI Anderson SC
Rapid City SD Nashville TN San Antonio TX Salt Lake City UT
Virginia Beach VA Plainfield VT Spokane WA Milwaukee WI
Princeton WV Greybull WY
Notes: In the event of a tie we awarded it to the city with the smallest population. New York City, NY would have been the largest in NY except many people signed up by borough and we didn’t add all the boroughs together as one group.
The United States Freedom Army is concerned about continuous constitutional violations in the five areas listed in the attached flyer. These violations are listed in their relative order of importance and are so long running and egregious they can no longer be condoned. The flyer attached to this report delineates these grievances. You may use it to make copies and pass it out at any meetings, at the VFW Hall, post it on billboards, give it to friends, or whatever you may decide.
NOTE: On September 17 we will be passing out these flyers in Washington, D.C. We need as many people there as possible so we can reach as many people as possible in the three branches of our federal government. We need to know as soon as possible how many people will be at the Muster Point on September 17. If you cannot participate with us in Washington D.C. we will have other things for you to do in your local area on that day. See the section above “Cross Country March on Washington D.C.” for more updated information.
We realize that the information in the note above will disappoint some people but it is the best we can do at this point in time given all the circumstances. We want to do the best we can to achieve distribution of our flyer and make the feelings of everyone regarding the abuse of the United States Constitution known.
The flyer itself has a camouflage background and a gold stripe but it was designed so it can be copied in either color or black & white. When copied in black & white it loses the camouflage and gold stripe but is still effective and is very inexpensive to copy in black & white. The words are what count and the words are what we wish to communicate.
PLEASE NOTE AGAIN: THE FLYER FOR YOUR USE IS IN THE LINK BELOW
The website post this month will be about the Constitutional Freedom March. We want people who log on to the website to know that an event is taking place and to encourage them to enlist and participate.
We support all efforts by any organization to “resurrect” the United States Constitution. Whenever we hear about any effort to restore the Constitution we will record it here.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
We are a group of people who want to see the United States Constitution followed and, by implication, this leviathan federal government dismantled. We intend to follow all laws and proceed peacefully to attempt to achieve this goal. This is the thrust of our effort at this time.
We are not at present a militia but circumstances in the future may alter that situation. What we do or become depends upon what occurs in Washington, D.C. and what occurs in D.C. may alter our goals and approach. Since we cannot see into the future it is not possible to say what may be required as time passes and events unfold.
THIS IS A REAL ARMY! WE ARE TOGETHER! THE CONSTITUTION HAS BEEN ABUSED AND IGNORED FOR TOO LONG! WE WANT ALL THREE BRANCHES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO START READING IT!
YOU MAY FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE YOU WISH.

THE BLAZE by BECKET ADAMS (MY TWO SENSE: OBAMA LAW directive, “Do As I SAY, Not As I Do.” How ever the Left justifies this directive is beyond the powers of logical minds to understand. Socratic Irony is the very description of the Progressive agendas and their responses to opposition. Their contradictory words and actions are Crazy-Making. The Leftard Progressive notion that in order to remove the yoke of societal oppression, society must be oppressed. In other words persecution, abuse, maltreatment, hardship, suffering, misery and repression of the “down trodden,” can only be eliminated through the use of repression, suppression, subjection, subjugation, injustice, tyranny, and despotism toward the rest. Cancer Patient Who Says Obamacare Canceled His Health Insurance Now Says He’s Being Audited by the IRS
Nov. 29, 2013 11:31am
A cancer patient who said publicly that his health coverage was canceled because of Obamacare now says he’s being audited by the Internal Revenue Service.
Bill Elliott appeared on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” earlier this month and said he was told that his cancer was considered “beyond a catastrophic pre-existing condition” and his plan was being canceled because of new regulations.
He said he was given the option of a new $1,500-per-month plan, up from the $180 per month or so that he’d been paying. Elliott told Fox’s Megyn Kelly that he had decided he wasn’t going to pay for the new expensive plan, and was instead going to take the financial penalty and “let nature take its course.”
Appearing this week on “Rocky D” on Charleston, S.C.’s WQSC, Elliott said that after a media frenzy, his insurance company worked it out with him to allow him to keep his coverage — but there’s a new hitch.
“Monday I got a certified letter, I went down and got it and it’s from the IRS and they are auditing my books from 2009,” Elliott said.
He said he didn’t own a business at that time, and in fact was working for the government. He said he’s paid his taxes every year and is not any kind of a tax evader.
There was one more part of the notice — Elliott said that “due to federal budget cuts,” the meeting between him and the IRS won’t take place until April 2014.
“It doesn’t matter. It could’ve been today if they wanted it to,” he said.
The radio host said, “you stood up and spoke out about how Obamacare screwed over your insurance and probably would kill you and what’s the next thing that happened? You get audited by the IRS. That is not a coincidence.”
“No it’s not,” Elliott said.
And it might not just be Elliott: C. Steven Tucker, an insurance broker who contacted Elliott after his Fox News appearance, said that after he helped assist Elliott with his coverage, the IRS “are now coming after ME all the way back to 2003.”
Elliott told Kelly that he actually voted for Obama over Mitt Romney last year specifically because he liked what Obama had promised about being able to keep your doctors and your insurance plans.
Elliott said on the “Rocky D” show that he’s doing better now health-wise, thought still has to have bone scans every four months.
See the President’s Alleged Handwritten Letter With the Quote ‘Tea Baggers’ in It
Nov. 27, 2013 10:12am
President Barack Obama allegedly told a Texas schoolteacher in a handwritten note that pursuing the Affordable Care Act was not “politically” smart, but that it was the “right” thing to do.
The president also defended the rights of so-called “tea baggers,” a derogatory term used against supporters of the Tea Party, to protest his signature health care law.
Obama’s note on official White House stationery was made in response to a letter from Thomas J. Ritter, a fifth-grade teacher at Sally B. Elliott Elementary in Irving, Texas, according to the New York Post. Ritter bemoaned the “toxic” political environment surrounding the Affordable Care Act.
“This bill has caused such a divisive, derisive and toxic environment,” Ritter wrote, according to the Post. “The reality is that any citizen that disagrees with your administration is targeted and ridiculed.”
“I hesitated to write for fear of some kind of retribution,” he added. “I watched you make fun of tea baggers and your press secretary make fun of Ms. [Sarah] Palin which was especially beneath the dignity of the White House … Do the right thing not the political thing. Suggest a bill that Americans can support.”
Much to Ritter’s surprise, he received what appeared to be a genuine response from the president.
“I … appreciate your concern about the toxic political environment right now. I do have to challenge you, though, on the notion that any citizen that disagrees with me has been ‘targeted and ridiculed’ or that I have ‘made fun’ of tea baggers … [I] defend strongly the right of everyone to speak their mind — including those who call me ‘socialist’ or worse,” Obama wrote.
“I believe that health care reform will be the right thing for the country … It certainly wasn’t the smart ‘political’ thing! And I hope that in the months to come, you will keep an open mind and evaluate it based not on the political attacks but on what it does or doesn’t do to improve people’s lives,” he added.
Ritter has since put the president’s note up for sale on momentsintime.com.
“I am selling the letter because I am just so disappointed, and this Obamacare bill is wrong,” Ritter said, according to the Post. “The president told me what he thought I wanted to hear. The letter is just words on a paper. It doesn’t mean anything to me because Obama doesn’t mean any of it.”
You can see a copy of Obama’s letter here:
When TheBlaze contacted momentsintime.com to verify the authenticity of the letter, we were told it was “absolutely” real.
Obama has been known to write notes back to people who send him letters, and has even said he sends checks to struggling Americans.

CNBC Host’s Stunning Slam on Ted Cruz: ‘Can We Get Some…Mexican Music, Maybe?’
Oct. 23, 2013 8:47am
[Author’s note: Scroll down to the bottom of this story to see important updates.]
CNBC’s Steve Liesman made an offhand crack Tuesday about freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and “Mexican music” that has some saying he went too far.
“We’re going to call this the Senator Ted Cruz jobs report,” Liesman said in reference to Tuesday’s unemployment report. “These are the jobless claims of Senator Ted Cruz.”
An image of Cruz appeared on the CNBC studio screens, prompting Liesman to say, “Can we get some music to go along with that? Some Mexican music, maybe?”
Shortly thereafter, some upbeat music started playing (though it’s unclear exactly what it was). Cruz is of Cuban descent.
Here’s a more complete version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gQpPHRSCAzQ
Liesman’s decision to refer to the September jobs report as the “Ted Cruz jobs report” is curious. The host is presumably blaming the report’s poor showing on the partial government shutdown inspired by the Texas senator. However, the shutdown lasted from Oct. 1 to Oct. 16. The jobs report released Tuesday covers September.
A CNBC spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze.
UPDATE 10/23/13, 12:00 pm ET – CNBC’s Steve Liesman has issued a formal apology for the “Mexican music” crack:
Regarding my recent remark on Squawk Box regarding Senator Ted Cruz, I first want to deeply and sincerely apologize if my remarks were insensitive.
Second, I want to explain that it was not intended to be offensive in any way.
I thought of him only as an American senator from Texas, and in an attempt, on the fly, to choose music representing that state, I chose Mexican music.
As a musician for many decades, I’ve played and listened to tons of Texas songs infused with Mexican themes. A better choice would have been Country/Western or Texas Roadhouse Blues — it was a bad reach all the way around.
And in case you were wondering, Glenn Beck was furious Wednesday when he found out about the Liesman “Mexican music” comment and addressed it on his radio show: http://www.video.theblaze.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=31170599#/copy

THE BLAZE by JASON HOWERTON (MY TWO SENSE: I must say that most of the women in these photos don’t look as though they’ve ever wanted to have sex with a man, so, what are they yelling about? As for the rest, and after the hails for satan, I can’t imagine anyone thinking abortion is acceptable. First of all, it’s nothing to do with reproductive health. Secondly, it’s nothing to do with anybody’s health except for the innocent baby. Thirdly, it’s all about being free enough to whore around without self-respect and an iota of consciousness to practice safe sex or abstain all together. There is no conscience involved in abortion. No medical necessity is involved in 99% of pregnancies. When a woman is willing to kill her own baby without a thought to giving it life through adoption, that woman is one of the most selfish human beings on this earth. It is unconscionable and inconceivable what those women are willing to put another life through to make their own more convenient. And convenience is the truth of what abortion is really all about! Watch: Abortion Supporters Chant ‘Hail Satan!’ While Pro-Life Activists Sing ‘Amazing Grace’ Outside Texas Capitol
Jul. 2, 2013 11:44pm
The abortion battle in Texas was still raging Tuesday as both abortion supporters and pro-life activists flooded the State Capitol to make their voices heard. The Texas House and Senate reconvened briefly for a special session called by Gov. Rick Perry.
One of the more bizarre tactics used by pro-abortion activists involved chanting “Hail Satan!” to harass a pro-life crowd as they sang “Amazing Grace.”
Texas blogger Adam Cahm was able to capture the “Hail Satan” chant on video. Watch it here:
“It’s been a very interesting day at the Texas State Capitol. Cahnman’s Musings hasn’t been following the hearing. Instead, we’ve been participating in the surrounding events,” he writes. “LetTexasSpeak has been doing a live broadcast from the rotunda where women have been sharing their abortion related testimonies. The pro-abortion crowd has responded with repeated chants of ‘hail Satan.’ It’s taken us all day to get a video recording…”
Obviously, it is much more likely that the abortion supporters were chanting “Hail Satan!” to mock pro-lifers rather than actually hailing Lucifer, but anything is possible.
And there was plenty of discussion about “Hail Satan” on Twitter. Twitchy has the details.
The pro-abortion crowd also brought some really interesting signs to the rally (Some are offensive):
A recess was called for the Texas Legislature until July 9.
The proposed bill would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, require that the procedure be performed at ambulatory surgical centers, mandate that doctors who perform abortions obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles and that even nonsurgical abortions take place in a surgical center.
Only five out of 42 clinics in Texas qualify as ambulatory surgical centers and they are in major metropolitan areas. Many clinics would need to relocate to meet ventilation requirements and to have the space required for operating rooms and hallways.
Similar measures have passed in other states, but many are tied up in court. Mississippi’s only abortion clinic remains open pending a federal lawsuit over the requirement for doctors to have admitting privileges.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

THE BLAZE by BECKET ADAMS (MY TWO SENSE: Ted Cruz may be our only gladiator. His voice is the loudest and strongest and I’m wondering where Rand Paul is on this immigration bill. We are in the middle of quick sand, going down, and now that the DC 70 have committed themselves to freedom fighting, in America, we should begin hearing their voices as well. If they don’t continue to stand, all will have been for nothing. We must tell them over and over again how much we support their stand and encourage louder voices. JM)
‘Americans Are Fed Up’: Ted Cruz Rips Republicans and Democrats Over ‘Disaster’ Immigration Bill
Jun. 19, 2013 7:15pm
For the first time in his political career, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday to discuss the immigration reform bill currently being debated in the U.S. Senate.
“Sir, you’re the real deal. You’re fearless. You’re a freshman. You’re acting like you’ve been there three terms,” Limbaugh said.
“As you know, a lot of Americans are fed up. They’re fed up with Democrats and they’re fed up with Republicans. They’re fed up with politicians in Washington who don’t stand for anything,” the Texas senator responded.
“And it’s how we’ve gotten in this mess. It’s how we’ve gotten $17 trillion in debt, and if we keep doing business as usual, it’s how we’re gonna pass yet another amnesty bill that doesn’t fix the problem. And I think Americans are really fed up with that and we need to stand up and stop it,” Sen. Cruz added.
The radio host then asked Sen. Cruz to explain to the audience why certain politicians and pundits are referring to the immigration reform bill as “amnesty.”
“This Gang of Eight bill is a disaster,” Sen. Cruz explained. “What the Gang of Eight bill does is it grants legalization now. It takes everyone who’s here illegally and says, ‘You’re legal,’ and then just like in 1986 it promises, ‘sometime in the future, trust us, wink-wink, we’ll secure the border.’”
“I don’t think the American people are that foolish. You know, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. If this bill is enacted, it will make the problem worse. If this bill is enacted, in another decade or two we’re going be back here not with 11 million, but with 20 million or 30 million people here illegally.
“This is a broken system. I think what Americans want is fix the problem, stop playing political games, actually secure the border and make a legal immigration system that works,” he added.
The two continued, discussing everything from the possible impact the bill may have on the national deficit, to the so-called Washington “consultant class” and its support for the bill, to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s curious wish to see the bill passed before July 4th.

Texas Police Dept. Provides Statement to TheBlaze on Vet Arrested After ‘Rudely Displaying’ Rifle (Plus, a Texas Firearms Attorney Weighs In)
Apr. 17, 2013 4:13pm
There could be more to the story surrounding a decorated Army veteran who was arrested after being accused of “rudely displaying” his rifle during a hike with his son, but the police aren’t willing to provide their side of it. For now, anyway.
“The charge is pending prosecution with the county attorney’s office,” the Temple Police Department said in a very short statement provided to TheBlaze on Wednesday. Temple is located in Bell County, Texas.
Police Sgt. Gary Smith told TheBlaze that they would not be releasing any other statements or commenting on the matter any further. “That’s it,” he replied after being asked if he could provide any additional details.
In case you missed our initial story, Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham, who told his story to Glenn Beck on the radio Wednesday morning, was on a hike with his son in a rural area of Temple, Texas, when he was suddenly approached by a police officer. Grisham, a concealed carry permit holder, was carrying a .45-caliber pistol on his waist and open carrying an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. Texas does restrict open carry of firearms to an extent, however, the restriction does not apply to “long guns.”
Grisham told Beck that he regularly carries the rifle while on hikes in rural areas to combat rattle snakes, coyotes and hogs. It has never been a problem — until now, he said. The Army veteran was reportedly detained prior to being accused of a specific crime and later arrested and charged with resisting arrest.
He was not charged with any gun related crime.
According to local authorities, Grisham was “rudely displaying” his firearm, and “people are alarmed” when they see weapons like the AR-15. “They don’t care what the law is,” one of the officers told Grisham, referring to the individual(s) who were alarmed by the rifle. You can read TheBlaze’s full report on the incident here.
Watch the video below:
To get a better — and objective — understanding of the details in the case, TheBlaze reached out to Justin Flint, a Texas firearms attorney with Pursley McNamara & Flint, PLLC in Missouri City.
After insisting that there could be more to this case than what’s shown on the video, Flint said it doesn’t appear as if Grisham ever resisted or failed to comply with the demands of officers. The police were within their right to investigate the situation after receiving a 911 call, the attorney explained, but an officer still has to have a reasonable suspicion that a crime is being committed or could be committed at a later time before detaining a suspect in the first place.
“There are certain things that one might be advised to do when dealing with police officers and you are in possession of a firearm,” Flint told TheBlaze. “I always advise people to make an officer feel as safe and comfortable as possible. But just because that’s good advice doesn’t mean that has to be done.”
In Texas, concealed carry holders are required to disclose possession of their firearm and provide identifying information as well as a valid concealed carry permit to police officers, Flint explained. He also noted that police are within their authority to disarm Texans while questioning them in order to ensure the safety of officers involved. The firearm must be returned unless they determine a crime has been committed. It’s unclear whether Grisham’s firearms have been returned to him.
But if someone in Texas is “carrying a long arm, a rifle or a shotgun, that is legal in the state of Texas… So there is no real probable cause there for a stop or for the police to detain any person for any amount of time,” the attorney added, speaking in generalities in regards to the law.
Grisham was first charged with resisting arrest, however, the charge was downgraded to interfering with a peace officer while performing a duty. Flint said if he were defending Grisham, theoretically, he would likely push for a case dismissal, based on the facts that are known at this point. He again insisted, though, that more facts may surface that could change the case dramatically.
“Based on the facts themselves, if there’s not evidence that he was resisting in any way or trying to interfere with what they are doing, then this would be a case that would be suitable for getting dismissed,” he added. “Whether based on lack of probable cause or lack of evidence to detain or arrest him.”
TheBlaze’s Erica Ritz has reported on some additional details concerning Grisham’s background:
To be sure, Grisham has his detractors. For the past several years, he and fellow prominent military blogger Michael Yon have engaged in a war of words over the Internet. The two have repeatedly questioned the integrity, valor, and and service of the other. TheBlaze will be following up on this issue in the future.
But regardless of his past, the treatment of Grisham’s son deserves to be investigated, Beck said. Police took the boy home after Grisham’s arrest. And though Grisham warned him not to answer any questions until his mom was present, police allegedly wouldn’t let the boy out of the car until he spoke.
TheBlaze will continue monitoring this developing story and add any relevant information as it becomes available.
Police: Still Unclear How Many People Trapped After Texas Explosion — Firefighters Still Missing — ‘Small Amount of Looting’ Reported
Apr. 18, 2013 9:51am
WEST, Texas (TheBlaze/AP) — Police in Texas say it’s not clear how many people remain trapped in the rubble after a fertilizer plant explosion that killed as many as 15 people and injured more than 160 others.
Waco Police Sgt. William Patrick Swanton says early Thursday he doesn’t know how many people have been rescued since the Wednesday night explosion in downtown West.
But he says officials on the ground remain in “search and rescue mode,” going building to building in the largely decimated neighborhood surrounding the plant.
He says he knows some firefighters still are missing.
Swanton says a thunderstorm that rolled through the area early Thursday has helped in some ways, including tamping down chemicals released from the plant.
He also says a “small amount of looting” has taken place in the destroyed neighborhood.
In a statement Thursday morning, President Barack Obama said a “tight-knit community has been shaken” and said federal support was in place to ensure there are “no unmet needs.”
“Today our prayers go out to the people of West, Texas in the aftermath of last night’s deadly explosion at a fertilizer plant,” Obama said. “A tight-knit community has been shaken, and good, hard-working people have lost their lives. I want to thank the first responders who worked tirelessly through the night to contain the situation and treat the wounded. My Administration, through FEMA and other agencies, is in close contact with our state and local partners on the ground to make sure there are no unmet needs as search and rescue and response operations continue. West is a town that many Texans hold near and dear to their hearts, and as residents continue to respond to this tragedy, they will have the support of the American people.”

Decorated Vet Arrested After ‘Rudely Displaying’ His Rifle — and Says Officer Pulled Gun on Him in Front of His Son
Apr. 16, 2013 11:13am
Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham was on a ten-mile Boy Scout hike with his son in Texas when he was arrested and accused of “rudely displaying” his firearm. Knowing there are wild boars, coyotes, and cougars in the area, he had an AR-15 rifle slung over his shoulder and was also carrying a .45 caliber pistol, according to Fox News’ Todd Starnes.
A “huge Constitutionalist” and prominent military blogger, Grisham has served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan throughout his 18 years in the military. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for his service.
But on the day he was arrested in mid-March, Grisham says he was treated like a “street thug.”
He described how it all happened:
At about the 5 mile mark of our hike, a voice behind us asked us to stop and the officer motioned for us to approach him. He got out of his car and met us a few feet later. He asked us what we were doing and I explained that we were hiking for my son’s merit badge. He then asked me what I’m doing with the rifle, to which I responded in a calm manner, “Does it matter, officer? Am I breaking the law?”
At that point, the officer grabbed my rifle without warning or indication. He didn’t ask for my rifle and he didn’t suggest he would take it from me. He simply grabbed it. This startled me and I instantly pulled back – the rifle was attached to me – and I asked what he thought he was doing because he’s not taking my rifle. He then pulled his service pistol on me and told me to take my hands off the weapon and move to his car, which I complied with. He then slammed me into the hood of his car and I remembered I had a camera on me (one of the requirements of the hiking merit badge is to document your hikes)…Up to this point, I am not told why I am being stopped, why he tried to disarm me, or even that I’m under arrest.
The arresting officer is Officer Steve Ermis and the supervisor is Sergeant Minnicks of the Temple Police Department.
Grisham’s 15-year-old son recorded the entire incident, and the video is posted on YouTube.
In it, you can see a handcuffed Grisham repeatedly asking what he is being detained for. TheBlaze spoke with attorney Michele Byington of Texas Law Shield who confirmed that, while Texas does have open carry laws, they don’t apply to “long guns,” like Grisham’s AR-15. He would only be in trouble if he had been carrying the rifle in a way “calculated to cause alarm,” like waving it in the air — not strapped to his chest and pointed towards the ground.
“In this day and age people are alarmed when they see someone with what you have [a rifle],” one of the officers explains, noting that someone had called the police. “They don’t care what the law is.”
“Do you care what the law is?” Grisham shot back.
Video shows the veteran continuing to elicit clarification as his hands are handcuffed behind his back, asking why the officers didn’t ask him to drop the weapon instead of resorting to such drastic action.
“I will not be in the habit of doing that for anybody with a firearm, because it’s dangerous,” one of the officers replies.
“So just because a guy’s got a firearm he’s dangerous?” Grisham responds.
“Yes sir,” the officer says.
The video has even more stunning dialogue, but Grisham says he is the most upset about how his son was treated, and how the incident will shape his view of the police.
“What a bad excuse you guys are showing for [the] police force,” Grisham says at one point.
“Actually, it’s a bad excuse as a dad,” one of the officers replies.
Todd Starnes at Fox News has more:
As the officers put Grisham in the back of the car, the video picked up sounds of [Grisham’s son] Chris crying.
The officers told Grisham they would take the boy home.
“I told him not to answer any questions,” Grisham said. “I told him not to answer a single question until his mother was there — and she would answer the questions for him.”
But that’s not what happened.
Chris told Fox News that the police officer refused to let him out of the car until he answered a series of questions. The boy had not been arrested.
“The officer told me that I wasn’t getting out of the patrol car until I answered his questions,” Chris said. “He said I didn’t have a choice. I was scared.”
Grisham said his boy was traumatized by the incident.
“Every time he sees a police officer he has a panic attack,” he said. “That’s unfortunate because we always taught our kids to respect police officers. My wife and I are angry about it.” [Emphasis added]
Chris told Fox News that he wants to be like his dad when he grows up. “He inspires me,” he said, adding that his father “didn’t do anything wrong at all.”
At this point, roughly a month later, Grisham says is still “100 percent confused” about why he was arrested. His charges were downgraded from resisting arrest to interfering with a peace officer while performing a duty, but he still thinks the situation is absurd and inexcusable.
“For me, it’s a difficult turning point,” the decorated veteran said. “I wonder what it is that I’m fighting for. If our basic rights are being violated this way — what is my purpose?”
TheBlaze has reached out to the Temple Police Department, but did not receive an immediate response.
“Where this case goes now is really up to a jury,” Grisham’s attorney Kurt Glass told TheBlaze. “It’s up to the citizens of the state of Texas.”
The entire, unedited video from the scene is worth watching:

Editor’s note: An editing error in the headline originally suggested the father claimed multiple Boy Scouts were present. It has been corrected to reflect that he was on a Boy Scout-related hike, but that his son was the only Scout present.
Armed Citizen Saves Cop’s Life
Sgt. Steven Means of the Early Police Department in Texas, is one law enforcement officer that is thankful for the Second Amendment right for citizens to bear arms.
Early is a small community in central Texas with a population of just under 3,000. Back in August of this year, several residents of the Peach House RV Park got into a squabble. Seems one of the residents, 58 year old Charles Conner took issue to his neighbors’ dogs doing their business in his yard.
On that hot summer day, Conner got into an argument with 58 year old David House, one of the dog owners. Conner eventually left the argument and went to his RV only to return with a gun that he used to shoot House dead with. Hearing the gun shots, the other dog owner, 53 year old Valentina Calaci ran from her RV screaming. That’s when Conner turned and shot her dead also.
In his fit of rage, Conner then turned and shot both the dogs that he felt started the whole confrontation.
Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Means responded to the shots fired call. The moment he got out of his car, Conner opened fire on him and then took cover behind a large tree. Means tried to return fire with his AR-15, but Conner had the better position.
Hearing all the gunfire outside, another resident of the RV park, Vic Stacy, looked to see what was happening. When he saw that Conner had the better position, he felt that the officer’s life was in jeopardy. Having a clear side view, he decided he needed to help the officer, so he took a shot from his vantage point and hit Conner in the thigh. Although wounded, Conner was not giving up, so Stacy shot him again. Sgt. Means was also able to get some shots off and eventually Conner was killed and the officer’s life was saved.
After other officers arrived at the scene and investigated what happened, they deemed Stacy to be the hero. Brown County Sheriff Booby Grubbs commented, saying:
“The citizen that fired these shots did a tremendous job out there. Had he not had a gun and the presence of mind to do this, we don’t know what the outcome would’ve been.”
This is just one of hundreds of cases where legally armed citizens have used their guns to protect themselves, their families and others. In this case, it was a police officer whose life was saved by an armed citizen. Tomorrow, it could be you or one of your loved ones, that is if Obama doesn’t steal them all away from us.

‘Violated’: Women Subjected to ‘Roadside Body Cavity Search’ During Routine Traffic Stop (And Dash Cam Caught It All)
- Posted on December 19, 2012 at 6:50pm by Jason Howerton
Two women from Irving, Texas are suing state troopers and the head of their department in federal court after they say they were forced to endure an illegal and humiliating “roadside body cavity search” during a routine traffic stop, The Dallas Morning News reports.
The case is currently under investigation by the public integrity division of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and will go before a grand jury in January.
The dash-mounted camera on a trooper’s vehicle reportedly captured the entire incident on video. Angel Dobbs, 38, and her niece Ashley Dobbs, 24, say the unlawful search happened on the night of July 13 along a state highway.
Watch the video below via The Dallas Morning News (Content Warning!):
In their lawsuit, the women allege that a female trooper, identified as Kelley Helleson, used her fingers to search both their anuses and vaginas with the same latex glove. To add to their horrific experience, the women say they were on the side of the road in full view of passing vehicles.
The video from the car’s dash cam clearly shows a female officer feeling around both women’s breasts and then sticking her hand down the front and back of their pants, wearing latex gloves.
According to the lawsuit, David Farrell, a Texas state trooper, pulled the car over after seeing the women throw cigarette butts out of the window. He reportedly questioned them about marijuana and then called Helleson to the scene to assist him.
Farrell requested the search because he said the women were “acting weird,” the suit said.
More from The Dallas Morning News:
Farrell searched their vehicle for marijuana but didn’t find any, they said. He then tried to “morph this situation into a DWI investigation,” the lawsuit said. Angel Dobbs passed a roadside sobriety test and the women were given warnings for littering, the suit said.
During the search of Angel Dobbs’ anus, Helleson irritated one of the cysts she suffers from, the lawsuit said, causing her “severe and continuing pain and discomfort.”
“Angel Dobbs was overwhelmed with emotion and a feeling of helplessness and reacted stating that Helleson had just violated her in a most horrific manner,” the lawsuit said.
The women also are suing Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, saying he was aware of previous problems and complaints about “unlawful strip searches, cavity searches and the like” yet failed to do anything about it.
While the Texas Department of Public Safety refuses to discuss pending court cases, DPS spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger issued the following statement:
“Following the traffic stop that occurred in July of this year and based on a citizen’s complaint, the Texas Rangers conducted an inquiry surrounding the events, and has since turned the results over to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office for review.”
Scott H. Palmer, an attorney representing the women, told the Dallas Morning News that the entire ordeal was caught on video from one of the trooper’s dash cams.
“You can see what’s happening clearly,” he added.
Palmer blasted the troopers’ conduct, saying the searches were basically “sexual assault” on the side of the road. “No one’s ever seen the likes of this…We can’t let them get away with it.”

Pennsylvania schools are tracking 450 students with RFID devices around their necks during a study conducted by the University of Pittsburgh program called Social Mixing and Respiratory Transmission in Schools (SMART). Students in selected school districts will be monitored via RFID chips to see how many people each individual child comes into contact with to determine how a pandemic could be transmitted. Their social activities, conversations, proximity to others and shared items will be tracked as well.
SMART is being conducted with a $700,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This study endeavors to decipher:
Effective ways of keeping a flu from spreading
Should student movement be restricted during class
Should sick children be sequestered
In response to emergency disaster preparedness, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in New Jersey has signed a 5-year contract with Radiant RFID to provide emergency tracking devices in the “event of a hurricane, natural disaster or other incident to assist in reunification of families.”
Under Radiant’s Emergency Management Solution (EMS) technology, these RFID chips will track movements of people, pets and assets “without repeatedly stopping people to take their name or scan a bar code. The seamless tracking helps eliminate lines, reduce redundancy and keep families together in times of emergency.”
EMS technology is specifically designed to keep “families united throughout an evacuation process; whether it is children and parents or families and pets.” They have been assisting DHS locations in Texas – being justified as hazard response network technologies that will provide support for:
Corporate building evacuation
Base camp management
Oil refinery mustering
The use of RFID chips in schools has become a trend that provides propaganda to the most impressionable of our society.
In Texas, children attending school in the Northside Independent School District will be required to carry RFID chipped cards while on campus. The 6,000 students’ movements will be monitored by faculty in a pilot program that hopes to expand to tracking all students in the 12 districts.
Principal Wendy Reyes of Jones Middle School, explains:
It’s going to give us the opportunity to track our students in the building. They may have been in the nurse’s office, or the counselor’s office, or vice principal’s office, but they were markedly absent from the classroom because they weren’t sitting in the class. It will help us have a more accurate account of our attendance.
In the San Antonio school district, the Student Locator Project (SLP) is being beta-tested at Jay High School and Jones Middle School – two schools in the Northside district. The SLP includes the use of radio frequency identification technology (RFID) to “make schools safer, know where our students are while at school, increase revenues, and provide a general purpose ‘smart’ ID card.”
In order to check out school library books, register for classes, pay for school lunches, the “smart” ID card is being employed to trace and track students and their movements on campuses all across America. By using leverage of educators to coerce school districts to adopt this method of tracking students, the argument for the use of the RFID technology is campus safety, efficient registration, and food and library programs.
Last month, a school in Maryland has installed PalmSecure, a biometric scanning system that requires elementary students to place their hand on infrared scanners in order to pay for their school lunch.
The unique nuances of each child’s individual hand will be cataloged and the image encrypted with a numerical algorithm that is combined with the cost of school lunches.
PalmSource, a Japanese corporation specializing in biometric technology offers this “authentication system” which is a marketed as a necessity in healthcare, security, government, banking, retail and education.
The corporation also provides an array of RFID chipped tags with memory capacity. The cost to taxpayers and parents for the installation of this Big Brother surveillance system in 43 schools in Maryland is estimated to be $300,000.
PalmSource is being beta-tested in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana.
